Harley Davidson ACR problem

ACR'S activate when standing bike upright from side stand or when you push the trip button or push the run/start button. Also, if you pull out the main fuse and reinsert it, they will also activate. Can you help?

SOURCE: harley davidson evo motor wont turn over...just clicks

Pull the spark plugs out and hit the starter. This will make sure that the engine is not locked up. If the starter does not turn the engine, put the bike in first gear and have someone push you, making sure the engine is free. If the engine is OK, your starter is probably jammed and needs replaced. That wire getting hot is a dead giveaway something is locked up tight...starter or engine. If ya have a large hi-performance engine in the bike, chances are your stock starter won't do the job.

SOURCE: Harley won't start.

A harley AGM battery are usaully good for three to five years the best thing to do is have the battery load tested. Now as far as your problem now depending on the batterys state of charge the solenoid will click or not.Because you store it alot you should keep a trickle charger on the battery

Testimonial: "Thanks for the advice, gives me a direction to pursue. Will have battery tested and hopefully that is all it is."

Do u check trany on side stand r upright on 2001 dyna wide glide

Check the oil level in the transmission with the bike standing as straight up as safely possible. Don't let it fall over. The oil level should be between the two marks on the dipstick. Your transmission holds 20-24 ounces of oil. Check the engine oil with the bike on the sidestand and keep the oil level between the two marks on the stick. Avoid "topping off" the oil tank. As long as the level is between the two lines, it's fine.

Do you check the gear box oil level when the bike is on the stand or up right

Always upright, if it is checked on the stand then it may give a false reading, and you may over or under fill the gearbox. Manufacturers state this as they can not control the angle of what you stand the bike against, but all bikes will be the same when standing.

While egine hot or cold, bike position, should the dip stick be screw all the way in or not?

check oil hot, and as far as if it should be on kick stand or not can easily be determined by the dipstick, the rule is if the dipstick moves from side to side then check it on the kick stand, if the dipstick is solid then check it upright. the dipstick should always be screwed all the way in and then take it out to check fluid level. I hope this helps you.

Harley davidson flstc heritage softail 1997

The fork oil is a very specific job needing a manual and a special tool, I don't want to insult anyones mechanical knowledge but if you have never done it before, best to take somewhere else. Engine oil on the other hand is easy, the drain tube to any softail is on the right side by where the frame meets the swing arm, has somekind of plug in it. Start and run bike for a little while, long enough to get it warm but not hot. Remove fill plug and then remove plug in drain line. Using a peice of cardboard or something put in between filter and frame , directing the oil to your drain pan instead of where ever it goes. Put 1 qt oil back in (after everything is reinstalled) start the bike and make sure the oil light goes out, when it does shut bike off and fill to the point that when it is standing upright you get a little oil on the tip of your finger, over filling may result in loss of oil cap from pressure (been there)

Pushing down on center stand, tilt bike till both legs of center stand touch ground; 6. Push down hard with foot and lift/pull on frame member.
