Must have the optional postscript installed in the unit and must have appletalk enabled in the user tools as well..

SOURCE: Mac OSX 10.4.11 won't print to Ricoh Aficio CL2000n network printer

As an update:

I actually had a Ricoh tech come out to my house. It was a warranty service - I was very impressed! He did some fiddling around, said that there was no problem that he could detect but... after he left the Macs can print to the printer no problem. From what I can recall, all of the settings were identical to what they were in the first place on the Mac side.

I still can't get my linux machine to print there but it is a low priority and I am really not trying very hard.

I wish I had more enlightening input.

I bought a Ricoh aficio sp100 only found that is was not support on the mac OS, is there any solution to it?

I am pasting this post from the Apple support communities website. There are 60 communications on this topic and I am pasting the one that jumped out at me. It's been my experience more than once over years (25+) that I've been able to get a printer or two to print - when I was told I couldn't. Might be worth a look here - and be sure to note his last sentence here. Good luck:

This helped me....and suddenly it worked !!!!

The way I've done it: delete every Ricoh Printer and related drivers from Ricoh from your machine. Connect to network and open any printable document. Klick "Print" and sroll down the printer list in the print menu window. There I found the Ricoh as available (but not installed). I klicked on it - Max OSX configured the Printer, installed the driver and voila it worked ! On a Ricoh without Postscript Option! I think the real problem was the original PS-driver from Ricoh. The MacOSX generic Ricoh seems to support PCL.

Can MAC OSX 10.5.x use Ricoh Aficio 1018D? Do you now alternativ drivers for ricoh aficio 1018D. HP LaserJet 5-Gutenprint v5.1.3 is o.k. for A4 but not for A3

this is an older model copier, however try going to www.savin.com and click downloads then drivers. there will be a tab for drivers, this is 10.5 though not snow leopard. Ricoh/Savin/gestetner and Lanier are all the same copier, but savin site has more mac info than Ricoh site. Usually I have better luck using already installed Mac drivers than Gutenprint, if you type in the ip it should give you a list of preinstalled Mac drivers. I believe the Ricoh 1018 corresponds to a Savin 2518 if that helps. Also use print daemon, not ipp. hope this helps somewhat as Macs are difficult with options and such on most printers. also must use PS3 for best results.

When it prints it only prints garbled letters

usually when it prints Garble it means the wrong driver is installed for the printer or PC. Make sure you have the correct driver and unistall the one you have and reinstall the new one.
