Photos in A70 are blurred and have lines in them after 4 years of use

  • trooper75150 Nov 07, 2007

Display has intermittent, moving lines when taking pictures. Lines are part of the picture when displaying and after downloading into PC. Camera is about 4 years old.

I've had the same problem- it grew from intermittently being displayed on the camera only, to being displayed on the LCD screen and in the images too. The only way I could (sometimes) capture a photo was to set the camera to multiple exposure mode (fast sequential shooting)-even then it seemed to be 1 of 10 frames would show up without the lines when downloaded to the computer. I bought a new camera.

My Powershot A70 has been very unreliable lately. Sometimes the display is red and full of lines with a picture that looks like someone on acid is viewing it. When I download the images, they have the same problem. And then, instantly, it will get better and I can take several photos without the problem occurring. At times the problem is so persistant that I can't take any photos...and then a day later I turn the camera on and it's fine. It is not related to batteries as far as I can tell. I'm thinking a new camera is the only solution - ??

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

Download your pictures on your computer. If the lines appear on the computer, then the problem is with the CCD itself and must be fixed by a technician. If the pictures are fine, the problem is with the camera's display electronics which also needs to be fixed by the manufacturer but it doesn't need to. It is mainly an annoyance, but a frustrating one I agree. I suspect that it is the second case. Regards, Denis

LG 60PZ750-ug TV no picture or sound

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wt1TBOGRStoSome common symptoms of a problem that could be the y-buffer is that you have no picture on the screen, you have black lines going across the screen. Those lines are typically horizontal and they go all the way across the entire screen. These black lines could also be caused by damage to these ribbon cables.

Panasonic ctp2780sf no picture faint line going vertical across screen

There are two reasons for this fault. A fault smoothing capacitor at the video output voltage rail, or excess of screen voltage. These lines are called 'vertical retrace lines' technically. Check this link for more details. It has a post, which have information regarding this fault. Go to older posts there.
