Re: says this file does not have a program associated...
Not familiar with software but either browse for programs and once you have found the master program then use that or open the program you created the file in and then open the file from the program.

Hi Raymond
Usually the best way to open a file created by a specific program is to install the program that created it.
So for example you would not be able to open a DNG file unless you had a program like Photoshop or Lightroom installed.
Here are some more possible reasons for not being able to open a file
The correct program is not installed.
The associated program to open the file is out-dated.
The registry entry of the file association is corrupted.
The file extension has not been associated with the correct program.
The file is corrupted by malware
Usually installing or re-installing the program that created or plays the file will fix these problems (after you have scanned your computer and eliminated any malware) be very wary of any tool on the web that offers a quick fix for this problem, and always scan anything you download with a virus checker/internet security suite.
This is because you dont have MS Office installed on your computer or if you do have MS Office the files are not associated with opening with Office.
PPS stands for PowerPoint SlideShow or can be found as PPT (PowerPoint Template) or PPTX for early versions of Office 2007 and 2010.
Please install either Microsoft Office (needs to be bought) on your computer or (if you only need to view this file) install PowerPoint Viewer 2007 or 2010 (free to download HERE).
If this is a problem directly related to Hotmail inbox or the specific email please check your email settings in hotmail or gmail account for filetypes.
Also do regular powerpoint or ms office files open if you download them from the attachments in the email?
Windows uses "associations" as part of its object-oriented interface.
For example, after installing Adobe Reader, there will be an "association" created, such that everytime that you double-click on a 'PDF' file, then Windows will launch Adobe Reader.
Similarly, '.doc' files will be associated with Microsoft Word,
and '.xls' files will be associated with Microsoft Excel.
> create an association in the folder options control panel
That's the correct way to "add" or "delete" a specific association.
It's strange that you don't have an association already defined;
it could be the result of a computer-virus, namely, one that has deleted that association.
Each Windows Operating System, 98, NT, 2000, XP, Vista and Windows 7 associate files with programs. This means that the file will open with that program each time it is clicked on. The error indicates that the file type does not have a program associated with it. 1. You do not have the program it is looking for loaded on the system 2. The program is installed but the association is broken
Google can help you with locating the program you need to open the file type you are looking for. 1. Make sure your system is showing you the extension for the file. This is the three letters following the period at the end of the file name. Example MyLetter.doc: doc is the extension. 2. Go to Google and type in a search for that extension. Example:type File extension flv, in a Google search. Notice, no period is used in the search. 3. Look in the results summary for the words Open an flv file (in your case you would substitute your extension) 4. Download and install the program associated with the file.
The first thing that you have to find out is what type of file is it. Normally if the file is not associated with any program on the computer then that means that the program is not installed. To find out the type of program that it is you can go to the link below then check the file extention. The file extention by the way is the letters after the period in the filename. EX. hello.DOC the capital letters is the file extention
ZM9 is a zone alarm file extension. Once Zone Alarm is installed you should have no further problems. If zone alarm is installed then associate the file to it by browsing for the .exe file of Zone Alarm.
