The problem is getting worse :(
Now most of the time the tv will not cooperate, it turns off (colors flicker and high pitch humming occurs quickly then turns off) within 15min and the red light indicator for the lamp comes on. The only thing that makes me doubt the lamp is to balme is the fact that the tv runs properly if it does not turn off within 30min. We know that for sure the tv will not turn off byitself if it lasts at least 30min, lol so what we going to do now is never turn off the tv again :D
Here some more info on the tv: We got the tv about 5 months ago form my dad's boss who told us, the tv has a minor problem. He said that it turns off after a while and all you have to do is disconnect and connect the power. When we brought it home we cleaned the air filters(weren't dirty though) and turned it on. Thats when we found out that "after a while" is about 15 min (more like a major problem if you ask me). So since there was nothing to lose we opened up the lamp compartment and found that the lamp had a light film of black stuff on one edge of the glass, the plastic near it looked burned so I guess thats where the film came from. I thought the film was burned on there but luckly we were able to clean it off. The tv has worked great but now its acting up again, but this time there is no film on the lamp to blame.
I read some other problems and solutions, now Im wondering if this is caused by some internal parts, like resistors or something like that :\
BTW how do I clean the mirror? Should I clean the mirror? Where is the mirror?
Well I think that pretty much covers it, but if you need more info I will gladly respond. Any help will be greatly appreciated, I hope there is a fix to this. Thanks :)
Its most likely a problem with the lamp fan / Thermak sensor or the color wheel as either one can cause the symptom youre describing. To clean the mirrors there are actually two A large one and a small one. Remove the lower speaker cover and you will notice 4 screws along the lower edge of the screen assembly, then remove the screws along the edge of the rear upper panel then lift the screen assembly slightly to disengage the clips then remove the screen assembly. The large mirror is on the rear wall of the set. The small mirror is dead center in the front where the lens projects and then the small mirror reflects the image onto the larger mirror.
Do not use windex as it will cause clouding and streaking. The best was to clean the small mirror is with a soft damp cloth (Water only) then dry with a soft dry cloth. Use care not to scrub very hard or rub very hard when drying. The LCDs which are in the light engine are wahts commonly cleaned with compressed air. The small mirror in the front of the screen which the lens projects on can be cleaned just be gentle and just a damp cloth works best

Hey thanks a bunch!!, I decided to fight my fears and went ahead and ripped the thing apart. I found that the small mirror is very dusty...very very dusty :( I looked up how to clean these mirrors and learned that they are acctually very fragile with the reflective coating exposed. So now I'm scared to clean them, what is the best way to do so? I read that some people used compressed air, vacuum, or windex :\ Also I ran the TV all opened up and it worked fine so Im betting that the fan aint doing its job properly anymore. Im going to test it some more to see if the open environment helps this problem of mine, if so its got to be the fan. :) Thanks again, greatly appreciate it.
