I have a Crown CE4000 power amp that whenever i turn it on, the lights just blink and the amp does not work. I was wondering if you know the source of the problem. thanks james
Crown CE amps have a very decent service manual that give test points to check for faults. In these amps protect mode is a good sign that major components are not burnt out ie, (Transformer).
With a good Digital volt/ohm meter most common circuits can be checked against the service manual specifications. Usually in these amps the Zener Diode or Capacitors are the first to burn out along with cooling fans. That would be a good place to start.
Respectfully, Muzick
I think bruteaudio has a point on that. Also, you can disconnect all equipment from your amp, and reconnect it step by step.
Your amp is in "protect mode". This means there is an internal fault of some sort. In most cases on a piece like this, there is a shorted component or components in the output stage. If your not experienced with troubleshooting and repairing electronics, I suggest you seek professional service.

Did you have this repaired yet? What was the problem? My CE2000 amp has just started doing the same thing...the lights go on but the fan does not, and it does not produce any signal. The amp has seen light use, so I'm upset that it quit on me. But luckily, it did not quit during a gig...and it's only my backup.
I had it in my rack which is stored in my attached garage. I have a weekend of gigs coming up and was testing my equipment when I noticed it quit. It gets pretty cold in the garage at times, but never below freezing. Could this have had anything to with it? The garage is pretty dry.
