Same as most people, I push the eject button on my DVD player (RTD300) and it does not open. Sometimes it says in the display "opening" or "closing" but nothing actually happens. I tried the methods on this website to unlock (hold pause and press eject and hold stop and press eject) but neither worked for me.

every time i try to turn on my polaroid dvd player it display "LOCK"
and i dont know what to do

I figured out this is a problem with Panasonic!! They make cheap buttons to put with the cover. I had to get into the dvd/cd player to find out..Open and close button works fine..Just the plastic button sucks. I ended up ripping it out..And use a little thing to poke it if I want it to open and close. A short term solution, but it works!

I had the same problem for my panasonic dvd player (ht540). Neither of the above solutions worked so I found this one on the panasonic website:

1. turn off unit by holding down the POWER button for 10 seconds.

2. unplug the power cord and wait for one minute.

3. plug the cord back in and turn on the unit

4. when the dvd begins to play, press "EJECT".

It worked for me. The site for other troubleshooting is:

Don't know if this will work for your dvd player, however I just fixed my Panasonic DVD S53. Turn it off. Flip it on its back, with the front of the player facing away from you and look for a circular indention in the upper right hand area. Should have an embossed OPEN with an arrow. Disconnect from power source.Take a flashlight and look into the slot on the left. You will see the edges of tiny gears. Take a pointy wooden (do not use anything metal) skewer (you know the kind you use for grilling shrimp) and gently turn the gears in a counter clockwise motion. The door will open and the tray should release. Remove any CD that may have been in the machine. Flip it back over, plug in and turn on. Tray will automatically go back in. Push the open button and it should now work properly. If not, at least you would have gotten a CD out of the machine had one been in the tray. This was really helpful to me since a Neflix movie had been caught inside! My player works fine now. And if it happens again, at least I know how to get it to release. Hope this helps. Regards, Doll

According to the manual you can:

while the unit is off - press and hold "stop" and then press eject - it should turn on and show unlocked in the display

It just doesn't work for me - nothing happens - please post if this solves your problem

WHY MY PORTABLE DVD WON'T PLAY

It won't play for one of two reasons:
1. There is something inside the DVD player, which keeps it from playing.
2. The DVD player's battery has run out of juice and can no longer play, meaning the player needs to be replaced.

CyberHome CH-LDV 700B Portable DVD Player

you've probably over extended the the flat wirecable that powers the screen inside the dvd player by opening the screen too far. Open the dvd player as if putting in a dvd, now look in the right hand upper corner and you'll see a white flat wire, this wire is probably your problem. open the dvd player and look at the connection, the wire should be crooked, push the wire into the connection securely and the screen should come on. check it out!!
