Canon Copier I have a Canon copier with separate ink cartridges. I was printing out pictures and the blue ink ran out. Replaced the blue ink with a regular Canon ink cartridge - not refurbished - and then the pictures would only print out in red. I took out all of the ink cartridges and put them back in - turned off the printer and back on - turned off the computer and back on. Can't figure it out because it was printing fine minutes before the change (I had printed out 10-12 pictures). Any ideas
I fixed by running a maintenance on it and it fixed it. I didn' t realize you could do that though until I checked this website. Thanks again.I fixed by running a maintenance on it and it fixed it. I didn' t realize you could do that though until I checked this website. Thanks again.

First, are you running low on those ink colors? If not, possibly print cartridges need cleaning. If printer has separate print heads, they made need cleaning. Lastly, print head(s) may need replacement.
Hi, ...I try to copy a document using either the laser copier or the fax part of the machine...
These isnt laser copier, you probably refer to scaner assy... but never mind.. lets solve your problem!
First, new inks are reffiled or original? Remove inks and look for small hole, ussually on top of crg. and blow in it verry hard. After that from crg. must start to drop ink. Put the ink back in and try to copy/print something. Also run head cleaning for few times.
If now it works that could mean two things: 1) the ink was for long time on warehouse, and nozzles are clodged. 2) your purge unit is faulty and it cant drain ink from crg.Replace purge unit, wich isnt cheap solution. Or,... buy new LASER Canon multifunctional copier that uses TONER.
If it ran dry before you replaced it then you need to do a deep clean of the head. This can be done under the maintenance tab of printer properties. If that doesn't get it working then physically remove the print head and clean it with a water moistened cotton bud (make sure you use a separate cotton bud for each ink nozzle). Running a cartridge completely dry can (and often does) damage the print head (overheats due to lack of cooling provided by the ink flow).
Are the ink cartridges refilled or compatible? They may be defective. Are they installed correctly (not in the wrong slots)? ** Note that even if they are replaced it will take SEVERAL pages before the quality returns
Cartriges have a shelf life. It's printing in blue either because it has dried up or is out. Different cartriges have different timelines but if you haven't been using the printer often, it could have dried up or is simply out of ink. I would suggest first to try cleaning the head of the cartrige where the ink comes out with alcohol and a Q-tip and then if that doesn't work, buying a new black cartrige.
