The printer was working just fine. All the sudden "Printer not activated, error code - 20" came up on the computer screen. What does this mean, and how can we fix it? All cables appear to be in place, and I turned off the computer and printer hoping to reset things to no avail.

To cancel the trouble status follows these steps:
STEP1 .Press MENU
*,2,8,6,4
STEP2.The machine beeps for approx.
one second and displays “MAINTENANCE" on the
LCD, indicating that it is placed in
the initial stage of the maintenance mode, a mode in which
the machine is ready to accept entry
from the keys.
STEP3.Now you are inside the
simulation Press 01 to reset the
trouble status.
STEP4.To exit the simulation press 99
• Pressing the 9 key twice
in the initial stage of the maintenance mode makes the machine
exit from
the maintenance mode, restoring it to the standby state.
• Pressing the Stop button
after entering only one digit restores the machine to the initial
stage of
the maintenance mode.
If again 6E occurs try to check the halogen lamp or power supply PCB.Contact authorized technician to do this checking.

The error message is misleading. The printer wants a new toner cartridge.

You have to open the door and hold the go button til all lights flash. That tells the printer it has a new drum. After that press the go button 3 times and it will print a report that shows the drum as new...

1) If the LARGE BLUE BUTTON is blinking:
Data remaining in memory
There is remaining print data in the printer memory. If the Ready LED is blinking for
a long time and nothing has printed, press the Go button to print the remaining data
in the memory.
2) If the TONER LED is blinking:
Toner low
Indicates that the toner cartridge is nearly empty. Buy a new toner cartridge and have
it ready for when Toner life end is indicated.
The Toner LED will turn on for 2 seconds and off for 3 seconds.
3) If the DRUM LED is blinking:
Drum life end soon
The drum unit is near the end of its life. We recommend that you get a new drum unit
to replace the current one. See Replacing the drum unit on page 69.
The Drum LED will turn on for 2 seconds and off for 3 seconds.
4) If the RED ERROR LED is blinking:
Front cover is open
Close the front cover of the printer.
Fuser cover is open
Close the fuser cover located behind the back cover of the printer.
Paper jam
Clear the paper jam. See Paper jams and how to clear them on page 85. If the printer
does not start printing, press the Go button.
Memory full
The printer memory is full and the printer cannot print full pages of a document.
Print overrun
A print overrun occurred and the printer cannot print full pages of a document.
