My 99 z24 cavalier standerd shift it will not shift into 3rd gear

The gear may be stripped, can't catch other gear, have you been grinding this gear, will have to go into transmission and replace third gear, will have to wind second gear out and shift to 4th gear.May be better and cheaper to get a remanufactured transmission cause all parts are new versus just 3rd gear being replaced.

Replacing the gear on makita angle grinder

Are you replacing both gears? The armature gear (pinion) is usually held on with a nut or else is pressed on. The spindle gear is also pressed on. Most spindle gears will come as an assembly with the gear and spindle and housing all together.

If yours doesn't, then the spindle will need to be pressed out of the housing, and then the gear pressed off of the spindle. (Always replace the grease as well when replacing gears.)

When you put it in 4th gear in grinds and sounds like the chain is trying to jump off

There are a couple of stripped gears in the transmission. The case will need to be split to locate and replace the bad gears. Be sure to replace not only the stripped gear(s) but also replace any gears that the gear teeth mesh with. Even if they look okay, they were exposed to the same punishment as the stripped gear. If you din't replace the "good" gears you get to do the repair twice in just a short time. Please rate my answer. Thanks. tombones49_57.gif

Got a 02' 125 ttr and it make a knocking noise in first gear? shifts fine and no other noise in other gears.

You have a broken tooth on the first gear set. This means two gears will need replaced; the drive gear and the driven gear in first gear range. DON'T just replace the gear with the broken tooth. Replace the gear it meshes with also.

I have a 1984 honda vf1000 motorcycle and 2nd gear is going do I have to replace all the gears or just 2nd gear

Replace gears in sets, the bad gear and the gear it meshes with. In what way is 2nd gear going bad? The gear may be fine and the shift fork is the problem.

Google " vintage honda motorcycle parts " and google " honda motorcycle salvage " for parts.

Slippage in second gear, pulls fine in all other gears and shifts fine, feels like broken tooth off gear or something of that nature

A broken gear tooth will cause a clicking sound. Start out in 2nd gear going slow. Hear any clicking? If so then TWO gears need to be replaced > the broken gear and the gear that meshes with it. If enough pressure was on a gear tooth to cause it to break, then similar pressure was on the gear it was engaged in. The gear may look okay, but it isn't. ALWAYS replace gears in sets.
