How to take my Lenovo monitor model # 9227-AC1 off safe mode

it is not just a monitor there is PC there,
no PC stated, they work as TEAM. ok.
that being said, 14year old monitors.
no not SAFE but power saver mode,
also called SLEEP MODE to save power losses, (Energy Star and GREEN )
the manual covers this. 9227-AC1 (you missed typing fully this)
'Lenovo ThinkVision L171 9227-AC1 17" LCD Monitor.' AC1 is non USA. this is very old monitor and all have this OLD style internal sleep mode. covered in the manual. circa 2005 old. most this old are dead now from dead CCLF back lamp tubes. but the manual shows push menu key on front then in the OSD MENUS WE THEN FIND sleep timer (clock) Inside the monitor,
http://www.manualsdir.com/manuals/165841/lenovo-l171.html if the PC is silent the monitor goes to sleep. if the PC goes to sleep wiggle the mouse or hit space bar until PC wakes up. if sleep is bad in PC turn sleep off. if PC is dead, then that is wrong. test the monitor in 2nd PC if monitor works there the monitor is ok, and PC1 is bad.

How do i change sleep mode

Sleep Timer Mode

The Sleep Timer mode is an energy-saving feature that enables you to set a time for the monitor to
power on and off at the same time every day. This also extends the life of the backlight bulbs in the
monitor. The Sleep Timer has five settings:
? Set Current Time
? Set Sleep Time
? Set On Time
? Timer: On/Off
? Sleep Now

To set the timer:
1. Press the Menu button on the monitor front panel to display the OSD Menu.
2. Scroll down and highlight Management.
3. Press the OK button to select Management.
4. Scroll down and highlight and select Sleep Timer > Set Current Time.
NOTE: You must set the current local time before you reset the time for Sleep Time or On Time. Note that the time is displayed in a 24-hour clock format. For example, 1:15 p.m. is displayed as 13 hours 15 minutes. A power failure or loss of power to the monitor will cause the timer to reset to 00:00. If this occurs, you will need to reset the sleep timer mode.

5. Press the OK button once to enter the adjustment mode for hours.
6. Press the - (Minus) or + (Plus) button to adjust the hour.
7. Press the OK button again to enter the time for minutes.
8. Press the - (Minus) or + (Plus) button to adjust the minutes.
9. Press the OK button to lock in the time chosen.
10. After setting the current time, the highlight automatically skips to Set Sleep Time. Repeat steps 6 through 9 to set Sleep Time.
11. If you do not want to set Sleep Time, press the OK button twice, then select Save and Return to exit the menu.
12. After setting Sleep Time, the highlight automatically skips to Set On Time. Repeat steps 6 through 9 to set On Time.
13. Set the Timer mode to On to activate the Sleep Timer settings.
14. When you are finished, select Save and Return to exit the menu.

The fifth selection, Sleep Now, turns the monitor backlights off immediately and stays in sleep mode
until the next On Time activates or a monitor button is pressed.

Here is artical I found on how to disable sleep mode on a monitor, this would be for VISTA or 7, if you are using XP it's a bit different. ____________________________________________________________ How to Disable Sleep Mode on a Monitor

Your computer monitor or laptop screen will enter sleep mode after your computer remains idle for a set period of time. You can disable sleep mode if you prefer the screen to remain illuminated. You merely need to change a setting in the Windows Power Management properties box.
Difficulty: Moderately Easy Instructions

  1. Click "Start" and "Control Panel".

  2. Click "System and Security" and "Power Options". This will bring up a new dialog box.

  3. Click the menus to the right of "Turn off the Display" and set them both to "Never". This will disable sleep mode.

Monitor going to sleep problem

  • Hi, The Monitor as well the Computer have "Power Saving Modes," [Sleep, ScreenSavers, and Hibernation]; so what you want to do is "Change the way the Computer / Monitor Sleeps!" From the Desktop Screen, click on the "Start Button," next in the [Start Search Window], type: power. In the next [window] that opens, you should see, from your point of view; a "list" in the (left column) "Change when the computer sleep, the wording may be different, but it will be clear enough. Now all you have to do is change the way the Computer and Monitor "Sleep, or Turn-off." If the Monitor have its own "settings;" just find them by the [button on the monitor], and do the same thing as above; but I'm sure the computer will take care of both. If this solution to the problem was of help? Let me know by giving a "Helpful Rating", thanks, and have a "Great Memorial Day!"

Monitor says it is going to sleep and there is only a black screen.

Monitors go to sleep when there is no computer activity it detected. Also, when your OS is working and somehow you have set a "sleep" time, then the monitor goes to sleep at the appointed time. Just press ENTER or press the POWER BUTTON to bring it back to life without losing your computer work.

Works when it wants to then turns whie with grey line in it

Hi

If only the monitor is going to sleep, then it could be a problem with the connection from the monitor to the computer or with the cable.

If the computer goes to sleep and if you are not able to wake it from sleep then check the sleep mode settings and also the power management settings for the keyboard and mouse.
You may also do a system restore if you are not able to wake the computer from sleep.
