Is the water draining ok and is washer spining ok?,if this problem is recent a small kids sock or something could be sitting somewhere beside element or in drain pipework, first you could try a 90degree wash with nothing in drum, this will get rid of any undissolved detergent/powder which can stink sometimes if low temp washes are used alot

What makes a kitchen sink stink?

There can be several reasons behind stinking of the Kitchen Sinks. Here is the list of them and the tips to resolve them:
  • A rotting food smell from junk stuck in the garbage disposal or drain: Use vinegar and baking soda, run ice cubes through the disposal, put lemon or orange slices in the disposal.
  • Sewer smell from gas leaking in through the drain trap :High pressure can force its way through the water in the trap and low pressure can siphon out the water from the trap.
  • Bacteria: One reason for a smelly kitchen sink can be the presence of bacteria in the drain pipe. To get rid of the bacteria you can either use baking soda, vinegar, or a commercial drain cleaner or bleach.
Even if you do not get rid of stinky smell then you can contact any professional plumber online for help.

Moldy smell in maytag washer

Check the drain. It SHOULD stand about as high as the washer, behind it, and it SHOULD have a trap below the floor (basement?).

If the drain's good and the trap is fine, then the pump could be borderline - it it doesn't pump all the water out, some water remaining in the washer may become stagnant and smell funky.

The washing smells of dirty water, have tried all sorts, but cannot get rid of the smell.

Several things to try:

Check the empty pump filter, that may be clogged with smelly debris
Ensure that the empty pipe is correctly inserted into the drain pipe and that there is a trap on the drain that stops smells coming back
Finally (This may sound odd) with no clothing in the machine, throw 3 dishwasher tablets in the drum and run it through the hottest cycle the machine can run. Smells can often be bacterial caused by biological washing powder which builds up bugs in the machine. Dishwasher tablets are anti-bacterial and will kill the bugs.

I have a Whirlpool Duet front loading washer with a smelly trap.

It is normal to have water in the drain lines and drain trap even when the unit is not in use. There's usually about a gallon of residual water in the lower portion of the wash tub, drain line and pump. If you are experiencing sour odors from the washer, the following link can give you some pointers on things to try to help keep the smell from coming back:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608512-getting_rid_front_loader_mildew_odor

Read through the link provided and let me know if you still have problems. I personally own a front loader and have followed this regiment for 9 years now with no odor or mildew problems. I hope this helps you as well.

Air con smells when cooling

Check the location of your drain, it might be installed in a ditch or smelly location. Install "P" trap in the drain pipe pipe to avoid the smell coming back into the drain.

SMELLY WASHING MACHINE

A mouldy smell is often a sign of trapped residual water stagnating somewhere in the machine often just inside the door seal at the low point or in the filter.

Providing there is nothing like a old sock trapped in the pump or filter then there is not much you can do other than to dry the door seal and powder dispenser after use.

Smelly drum

run a load with no clothes, hot water and a gallon or two of bleach and less then 1 drop, very small amount of dish detergent. the dish detergent is used as  surfactant (makes the bleach stick to the interior walls)
run an extra rinse cycle to make sure you get all the bleach out before putting clothes in.
