Picture pulsating and flipped around. Can not be focused

Too funny! Sorry about this, but most folks would tell you to flip the projector on its top and use it that way! I am certain you thought of that. Perhaps the Epson folks can help you turn things around.

It sounds like you might be too close to whatever it is you're trying to take a picture of. Each camera lens has a minimum focus distance listed on it that determines how close you can get to something and still take a picture. Page 45 of the XTi manual talks about minimum focusing distance and describes the camera's behavior.
It's also possible that there is not enough light for the lens to focus. In this situation you might have to flip the switch on the lens to manual focus to take your picture.
So, either try moving further away so the lens can focus or use the manual focus.
In case you are interested, here is a website that discusses the minimum focus distance. Even though the website talks about Nikon cameras you will still be able to use the information.
Also, on page 160 of the XTi manual there is a section titled "When Autofocus Fails" that will give you an idea of what your camera is doing.

If this tv has a feature called magic focus or perfect focus which is a button inside door that flips down on the front, then it has sensors on the inside of the screen. When it was pushed in, these were probably messed up and will cause a poor picture. It may be difficult to get those realigned. Magic focus will not work right until they are realigned.

In replacing the CRTs, there are multiple focus adjustments. The basic one first is the Mechanical lens adjustment on the CRTs, (in this case red), the second one is the Electronic Focus on the Screen/Focus Block on the front of the unit behind the front panel. The third focus and on of the most important is the Beam Centering Focus. (In this case RED CTR) It is located on the neck of the CRTs. They are the first set of adjustment rings up from the CRT Boards. If any of these focus adjustments are off they will cause a symptom like yours to occur. Normally these adjustments are made before any convergence adjustments are made. I would double check to see if the repairman made these adjustments.

Your pictures are blurry because the camera did not focus properly on the subject.

First, turn on the camera in any picture taking mode (or video mode), then look at the screen or viewfinder. There should be four white corners in the center of the camera display. This is your targeting area.

1. Aim the camera at your subject so this center area is directly on it.

2. Press the shutter button lightly, not all the way down. Wait for a second or two WITHOUT RELEASING YOUR FINGER. If the white corners turn green, keep the finger on the button and press it all the way.

(Once the screen flashes black, a picture is taken and you can release the finger).

If the targeting area turns red and blinks, then the camera has not focused. You can to try to focus again by following step 1 and 2. If a picture is taken when the targeting area is red, then the picture will be blurry.

If there is no targeting area, then you can still focus by aiming the camera at your subject. Now follow step 2. A green box will appear on the subject, then a sharp picture can be taken.

The red arrow that flashes means that the pictures or videos are being written onto the memory card.

Also, try to be steady when taking pictures, because slight hand movement can cause blurry images too.

Page 25 in the DMC-FZ7's english manual will also explain how to focus.

You have a convergence problem
If the set has auto focus and will not complete its cycle.
The Auto focus module is bad, (expensive)
If it completes and the problem is still there.
Then check for bad conv. drivers (stk****) or cold solder joint on one or more of the 3 drivers pins.

Hi,
I'm not sure about this model but most projection tv's have a focus/screen control block usually located behind the front grille where the speakers are. The grille usually comes off easily. If there are no circuit problems you can adjust the red green and blue picture tubes there. Also the focus. It will be written somewhere screen and focus: Three for screen and three for focus. If you find the screens then adjust them slowly clockwise for increase brightness on the red and blue and you may have to reduce the green. Adjust for best picture. If the picture does not adjust too good then the tubes are weak. Only if there are no circuit problems Hope this helps

have you already pushed the focus point button - top right, under your thumb and then push the set button? Pushing the set button will flip between only the centre focus point and all 7.

This could be due to a jammed lens element preventing the camera from focusing properly. When you push the button the camera attempts to focus the image before it takes the picture. If the focus component in the lens is not moving properly it cannot focus and thus will not take the picture. Do you see the camera attempt to focus the image when you press down the button? If it does not make any noises when you push the button, and the camera does not attempt to focus the image then it is most likely a jammed or malfunctioning focus motor. This would require professional repair.
