My 2005 Xterra is making a high pitched electronic or dentist drill type sound when I hit the accelerator pedal. It will change pitches as the the vehicle takes on different gears. It also reduces as the vehicle slows down (it does not make noise when I hit the brake pedal). Any idea of what this could be??? Ohhh and the actual acceleration of the Xterra seems to be fine. Thanks for your help and thoughts!
Probably the front differential, your probably hearing the famous differential gear whine. Change the oil, put Lucas for gears in it. You can get a hand operated oil pump to **** it out through the dip stick if it has one. Then fill it with the recommended amount.
