PLEASE HELP!!! Computer Wont stay on

Hi there, I have a Desktop Acer Aspire SA80. I have only had it since March this year. I turn it on and it sounds like it powers up and like it is loading and then all of a sudden it switches itself off. I tried to turn it on again, and it did the same thing. Before it would actually load right up and stay on for a few mins and then switch off. But now you switch on the power button, powers up and then switches off. I am desperate to see what this problem is. It had a little drop the other day (on my foot mind you) I am wondering if that would have anything to do with it. Please help, I can't into my computer AT ALL!

I would recommend checking the heatsink and fan that is on the CPU. Your PC is overheating which is why it is shutting down. Either the fan connector came unplugged, or the heatsink is loose and not making good contact.

If you have only had it since March it should still be under Manufacturers Warranty. Check that before going any further, some things you do could VOID a warranty. If no warranty, and only if NO WARRANTY, UNPLUG THE COMPUTER... open the case, check for loose connections(from the little drop) you may have knocked a card, memmory stick, or cable loose. more than likly the memory sticks

Hi. I want to play games on my Acer Aspire SA80 Desktop, but every time I install the game, it says the video card is not supported. I don't know what to do. Please help!

As per Acer this computer model has a Integrated SiS Mirage Graphic onboard card or a seperate
AGP 8x Add-on Card (selected models). It looks like the game you are trying to install requires advanced graphics card.

Please specify the game you are trying to install and also specify if you have a AGP card installed (and what is the make and model of the same).

If you do not have a AGP card installed , we can check the game specification and try to install a AGP card and check with it.

Wont read discs

wash dvd or cd in warm soapy water then dry with very soft clean cloth, going from the center in a straight line to the outer edge. if this does not solve the problem do a system restore to the last date when you where able to do it.

Have an acer aspire sa80, formatted hard drive, no missing : Multimedia Audio Controller Video Controller (VGA Compatible) USB Controller drivers. I use a dongle to access wireless internet, and as usb not...

Hi,
You need drivers for your system.
All the official acer drivers for your system are here :-

http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/desktop/power_s260.html#driver

As listed at the site:-

Realtek Audio Driver is your Multimedia Audio Controller.
NVIDIA VGA Driver should be your Video Controller, if that don't work try SIS VGA Driver.

SiS 661 chipset driver should fix your usb problem, if it dosn't update windows to SP2.
Get that from here: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/. Then try again with SiS 661 Chipset Driver.

You should also install the rest of the drivers for your aspire sa80.

You said you had no access to internet so burn the drivers using a friends computer (one with internet) and install from the disc and you should be fine.

Wont load

It is on your os problem. Insert your OS installer. You don't have to install a fresh copy but you can repair your previous OS installation. Make sure you have set your boot sequence to CD, floppy and last HDD. You can now reinstall your drivers after doing that.
