I have vonage telephone hooked up to my pc.how do i install my wrt54g router, what wires go where?

Who is your ISP. I think your modem is connected to the Vonage and Vonage is connected to the computer. If that is the connection then you can disconnect the computer from the vonage and connect the router there. From the vonage connect to the internet port of the router. then connect your computer to the router. Check if that works. If you are connecting the router to the modem, then you will need to set up the router as per the modem set up or type of ISP. Click Here for step by step solutions

Vonage told me to install my D-Link router between the vonage adapter and the computer and I don't know how or which wires go into which ports.

First of all: it would be good to know which vonage device you are using. This would help to be more specific.

But anyways:
  1. Connect a normal Ethernet cable form your DSL or Cable modem to the Internet (or WAN) port of your vonage router.
  2. Then connect another Ethernet cable from one of the LAN ports of the vonage device to the Internet (or WAN) port of you D-Link (The one that is separated from the 4 LAN ports.)
  3. Make sure that the D-Link is set to DHCP (Dynamic IP Address), so it can get it's IP address from the vonage router. (Look at page 14 of your manual. If you don't have one, you can get it here.)
  4. Connect your computer to one of the LAN ports on the D-Link.
If you have any more questions or this desciption is not clear to you, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

New computer (Vista) does not connect to internet. We have vonage VWR-VR D-link router and SBC Yahoo.

If you want this computer to connect wrielessly, go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center and click on Connect to Network. Select your router's signal from the list and click on Connect. It might require you to enter a network key. If you don't know your network key, call your ISP.

Vonage does not work with D-Link router

If you plugged a telephone into your D-link router, unplug it - that can not work!
You have to plug your vonage router (WAN port) into the D-Link (LAN port) and connect your phone to one of the LAN ports of the vonage router.

If you do not need the wireless capabilities of the D-Link, you can simply take that one out and only use your vonage router.

If you need more help, I would need more details form you:
Which vonage adapter are you using?
How is your setup (i.e. modem -> D-link -> vonage & computers)
What connections are you using (wire/wireless)?

You can also find help here.
