My 2 year-old LG 5988 does not heat up and does not dry my clothes. The drum spins, but no heat is generated. The lint screen is cleaned after every use and there is no lint visible in any of the readily visible areas. When I put my hand in front of the vent on the outside of the house, air appears to be flowing unobstructed. Also, the cooling light goes on as soon as the dryer starts.
Hi,
If you are having problems with your
gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor
goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working
properly.
if
you dryer is gas check out this gas
no heat
tip....
If you have an electric dryer, you can
have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to
heat.

Similar, if not the same problem. There is a small amount of heat generated; the burner still ignites and runs. The 'cooling' light is ALWAYS on. It seems that drying time has doubled in the past month. The dryer is practically air drying to clothes. The exhaust is clear and blowing fine. Any ideas?
I have the same problem.
As soon as the unit is started the cooling light comes up and no heat is made to dry the clothes.
Same problem here.
its heating but cooling sensor is always blicking.
EXACT same problem. Anyone have a solution? I bet the computer chip is fried....takes a technician to fix it.
Same problem. For the second time in two years. Having a difficult time finding a reliable repair person. Will tell everyone we know not to purchase an LG brand appliance!
I have the same exact problem with mine. Everything appears to work normal (the drum turns, the indicators on the face of the dryer are lit which tells me my clothes are drying). Once I hear the beep that tells me the clothes should be dry and the dryer stops, I check the clothes and they are cold and moist. Please help. This dryer is not even 3 years old. The vents have been cleaned; we checked the exhaust system as the manual indicates but not go. It would be great to get a solution online. I am almost certain that it's an easy fix. Hope I'm right.
Sorry I don't have a solution...I'm LOOKING for one! I have the EXACT same issue as everyone here. Soooooo frustrated over a 1000 dollar dryer!
LG Sucks.
Same problem. Dryer turns on but only ignites occasionally. Have had two motors and two valves replaced. Still doesn't work. Tech told us it's a flaw in the design.
This just started happening to me. Clothes wet and damp even after three times through cycles. No heat at all. Does anyone know what the problem is - I hate to call a repairman if I don't know what I'm looking for.
My LG DLG5988W sensor stays on all the time.. Clothes take forever to dry.. if they dry at all.. it seems there are many with the same problem with no answer from LG as to how to get it fixed..NOT A HAPPY CAMPER!!
Why don't we all bombard LG with complaint calls? I am sick and tired of expensive appliances needing repairs after the 1 year warranty runs out. We need to stand up to the companies that don't produce quality products. If enough of us do it, they will notice.
