I get - 'Load main image failed. Switch to Recovery mode'

What the heck is recovery mode? How do I get there? They don't give you any troubleshooting help at all with this thing. Hope you can help me. Thank you for your time. Stan

Does nothing... I called the company and live assistance walked me through that. Nothing happened. I am now waiting on a level 2 e-mail that will walk me through a full re-format of the player. Your fix would have just reformatted and updated the software, without harming my downloads. What they are going to send me will reformat the entire machine and I will lose my saved music, etc... If that does not work then I have to send it for replacement per the tech help at Sansa, but thank you for such a quick reply!

After I got off the phone with the customer support, I decided to give it one more try. This time I simply followed the website instructions, and whaddaya know?! Presto, bang-o it's back to normal. I guess maybe when I was on the phone with support I maybe hit something more than once. Who knows. Thing is, it's fixed. Thank you for your help!

Run the recovery tool from the SanDisk website. Make sure you select "format" when prompted. http://www.sandisk.com/Assets/File/Downloads/firmware/e200fw01.00.12.exe You need to put the device into "recovery mode" before you run the tool. - Turn the device off (hold power for 20 seconds) - Slide the hold switch into "hold" position. - Press and hold the "record" button while connecting it to your computer. Keep holding the "record" button until you see the "new hardware found" on your computer. Then run the recovery tool. Select format when prompted. Best of Luck.

Load main image failed, Switch to recovery mode"

If it still plugs in and works properly, you can try to format it or try to update its firmware with the firmware updater that you can download from sandisk.com and then click on download.
