The video system in the USA is NTSC. In Europe, it is PAL. Depending on where you are, it player may be confused as to what system you want. BTW, if your TV is an NTSC, it will not play Pal discs either, or vice versa.. Look in the owner's manual for setting up the unit. The output type is probably set in the menu.

Dvd disc not playing

Buy a cleaning disc for about $15.00. If that doesn't work it's time to buy a new one.

Can't display Pal on My Sony 57" KP-57WS520

There are probably a few problems here. What are you using to play the disc? Some NTSC players will "play" a PAL disc but interpret it as NTSC with the symptom you are describing. You need a DVD player that will play PAL. Many of those will output NTSC directly when set up to do so. The other alternative is to have a PAL compatible player that will output PAL into the converter. To narrow this down specifically, please post the model numbers and the connection scheme for your equipment. Once I understand your current setup, I should be able to describe a method to get this to work for you.

Does not play dvd disc or music disc

I had this same problem with my Apex AD-500W DVD Player. I decided since everyone said the player basically needed to be replaced it wouldn't hurt to go through the buttons on the remote just to try and figure it out......I DID!!!! I turned on my DVD Player, inserted a disc, turned on my tv and then hit the SYSTEM Button right below the power button until the screen said MULTI and the machine started working perfectly. There are 3 settings in that button, PAL which made my screen go crazy, NTSC ( i have no clue) and MULTI(this one made it work)! Hope it also works for all of you!!!

Dvd "unknown disc" message coming up

Have you tryed to use a lens cleaning disc yet. The laser lens on these players and recorders alike, must have the lens cleaned every oince in awhile. If that does not help, most likly you have a bad laser pickup assembly and you will need to replace the plaer as to have that repaiered, you could buy a new unit. Good Luck
