Re: Emachine wont start, just beeps
This is probably a problem with your DIMM(RAM)
Did u recently install an extra RAM?If yes then remove it because the beep sound is due to the mismatch of frequency of two DIMM's. If not open your computer and check if the DIMM is loose just push it in and powerup your comp..Let me know if its fixed..

The beep signifies an error. But different bioses have different beeps. You can check with the emachine site to tell you what 1 beep on the machine signifies and you can be guided accordingly. Could be bad power supply, connection, peripheral, etc
It sounds like it could be a hardware failure. Most emachines that I have dealt with have a motherboard failure within the first few years. They tend to put cheap hardware in their computers that works well for a little while but ultimately fails.
This problem is very common when you have a bad ram/ memory module or it is not making sufficient contact. Remove them and clean with a piece of dry cloth and reseated properly. Try it again. If it is still not coming on, the ram may be bad. Get them tested and replaced.
The motherboard in your computer is an MSI MS-7145, which is also called RS480M. You can download a copy of the manual here. The front panel connections are on page 2-20.
Looking at the header JFP1, pins 1 through 9 (odd numbers) are the front row, pins 2 through 10 are the back. Pin 10 is the missing pin. The power switch connects to pins 6 and 8. The power LED connects to pins 2 and 4. The HDD LED connects to pins 1 and 3. The reset button, if used, connects to pins 5 and 7.
Couple things to check. First, check with different monitor. Their monitors are usually build by KDS and I think there was a bad series out there. Also check for any beep codes through speakers on startup, this can tell you bad ram or bad video out. Also try unplugging computer and removing CMOS battery inside (watch like battery). Lastly, If non of the above, a bad processor will allow the computer to come on but no beep, no boot, no nothing but fans and green power light. Hope this helps a little.....
