Question about Garden

1 Answer

Don't know exactly where to grease gears.

Where and how am I supposed to grease gears and "maintain" housing on self propelled mower? How far do I tear it down and what kind of grease or oil do I use?

i have a silver series self-propel lawn boy which i love. small problem that i would like to know how to address. the self-propel clutch engages belt & flywheels, etc - the rear wheels turn when lifted up but just no traction when on the ground. adjusted self -propel cable on mower. wondering if maybe the self-propel gear boxes need to be greased. they have small nipple type objects protruding the them but too small even for wd-40 straw.....any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated. misplaced my owners manual 7 or so years ago.....thanks so much!

I have a Toro self-propelling front wheel drive mower. As I was mowing the self-propeller stopped working. I checked the oil, gas, blade but it all looks OK. The filter needs to be replaced but I'm not...

5 Rules for troubleshooting engine problems:
1. Spark
2. Compression
3. Accessories
4. Carbonation
5. Timing

Those are listed in order of how hard they are to do.First check the plug and wire. Now is a good time to change the air filter also.

Step two will require a compression gauge,if you do not have one before you go buy one.Try to start the mower. If when you pull the rope goes back in and pulls tight your compression is ok,if not buy a gauge.

Step three.Check that the cable(kill switch) attached to the handle is in good repair.

Next is the carb. You may need to clean it.Carb cleaner would be my first choice, the spray can type. Now if that still wont fix it.You need to tear down the carb and clean a small screen on the inside. That step is far from fun,but is not very hard to do.

Lastly is to check the timing. This can be done by dissembling the crank case and realigning the gears. The gears are marked so it is not as hard s it sounds.

Should none of that work, look at the belt make sure it is not broken and jammed up in the pulleys.

Self propell wont work when wheels are in put in grass. I have changes cable and drive belt. what could be problem?

If you take off the wheels, you'll see gears inside the wheels, check for wear and tear. If their Ok, check the cogs and pins inside the cogs on the base (or chassis) for wear and tear

Where is the oil drain plug for a poulan self propelled 22 inch 625 series mower

remove spark plug wire from plug, tip machine on its side.look under blade for a threaded plug with a square head where bottom of motor protrudes through deck.on most models you can simply tip machine over far enough to allow oil to drain out the dipstick[filler]tube.

If you take the wheels off and remove the belt from the small pulley on the the front axle underneath the pulley you should see a small transmission. You usually can split this unit in half . You will see two gears and sometimes one plastic and one metal. The plastic one is usually the culprit. Hope this will help you out. Donnyb60
