Most likely the card. While the PS2 can corrupt data too. The cards are the more likely point of failure.

You need it plugged in to read the live data but it sounds like a very common mass air flow failure, the live data will show this up.

The mass air flow will have a real big impact on the power.

It is a hard disk drive read/write failure. It may be possible to recover data from the drive once it is replaced if you slave the drive on another system. If that fails, then there is the option of data recovery from places like Ontrack.com but be warned, data recovery is expensive

That failure is predicted by the SMART reporting system. Its a status chip on the drive that reports to apps that can read the smart data from the hard drive. Its not always accurate but it usually is.

Time backup your data on that drive ASAP and then buy a new drive.

Per service manual, Parameter Chip failure

Data, which has been written, is read, checked, and
found faulty; rewriting of the data is then executed and
the data is checked to be found faulty during re-reading.
• A count value is found faulty during reading.
• Parameter Chip is detected to be not mounted during
initial mounting detecting sequence.

Did you recently have the firware updated? Or the main board has crashed. have service Technician reflash the software, or down load it.
