I get message carrier stall - error 1200

  • tbaa Feb 05, 2008

I have the same error message 1200 carrier stall. I have shook it, blown it, cleaned it with electronic cleaner, unplugged it and replugged it, ran hard stock thru the feeders both ways, it is new-never been used just out of the box but it is 3 years old as it was a gift and I never hooked it up till now. The printer is out of warranty and can't get anyone from DELL to help me. I just bought all the DELL INK and the darn thing keeps saying CARRIER STALL! What should I do next beside sending the ink back to DELL and trashing the printer? Is that flat piece of plastic supposed to be in there behind the feeders on the right side of the gears? Please help!

Same Error message but when switched on the printing unit moves swiftly towards the left then back to right hitting both sides very hard.

I have the same problems. I changed my black ink and then my printer quit working. I tried cleaning it and still nothing. I do not have the lose strip so I see nothing that should be causing the carrier stall. PLEASE HELP!!

Try this 1.Disconnect power to printer 2. Force the cartridges to the left and then to the right 3. Clean at the transparent strip behind the cartrigde holder (Encoder strip) Be careful not to pull on the strip Hope this helps.....

SOURCE: Error 1200 - Carrier Stall

If you can move the head back in under the housing a little you may see that the head lock is sticking out and causing the head the jam. With the power off push the head back and look for the headlock. If you can see the lock, try using your finger to rotate the gears at the other end of the printer in a reverse direction. This is the direction the printer should run when it powers up to retract the head lock. Try to observe if the lock moves back in. If not, use a thin screwdriver and see if you can manually push the lock back in. If you manage to move the head lock back in, move the head by hand to around the middle of the carriage and power the machine on. If the machine returns the head to the home position and parks ok you are on your way. Power off and then back on to see if the lock now retracts by itself. If the head gets stuck again it would suggest that the locking mechanism is damaged and need either repaired or removed.

I have error 1200 on my lexmark x4270 fax machine after installing new black cartridge.

The 1200 error code indicates that the cartridge carrier has stalled. It could be due to the new black cartridge installed in the printer. Make sure you are using the correct version of black cartridge for your model and it's properly inserted in the cartridge carrier.
To remedy the problem, try to remove the black cartridge from the carrier > close the cover > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it > when the printer turns on, re-insert the new black cartridge > check for any errors. If problem continues, try to insert a different known working black cartridge to determine if the new one is faulty.
For further troubleshooting, you may also refer to this article found in the Lexmark website: 1200 Error Message on a Lexmark X4250/X4270/F4270 All-In-One.

Dell 922 print carrier stall error message. Also, error 1200.

Hi
hope it will work
Error code: 1200
This error code is commonly associated with the Dell 922 printer. Usually you might see the cartridge moving front and back and slamming itself against the printer. You need to tighten the strings located on the back of the printer and then it should work fine

Clean the carriage rail. This is the round chrome piece that the carriage assy that holds the cartridges rides on. Use a paper towel that is slightly moist.
Be sure to not force anything. Unplug the printer after you get the carts in the middle. Move them to one side and clean and then move them to the other and repeat.

Lift up the scanner to reveal the cartridge compartment; under the chrome rod on which the cartridges run there are two small gaps about 8cm apart. In the right one should sit the paper sensor which is a small black rod that hooks downwards; the problem I had was my sensor had bent up and out of the gap so all I had to do was bend it gently back into position using a small screwdriver.

Hope you get it to go.
Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Carrier Stall is the error

Hi,
Please do the following..

To check the cartridge carrier:
  1. Unplug the printer.
  2. Move the cartridges to the left by hand and then take them out.
  3. Try to print without the cartridges in the carrier. Do you still receive a Carrier Stall error message?
  4. If not, put the cartridges back into the carrier and snap them in at the back. The message should no longer appear.
If the power light on the printer is not blinking, the error message may be caused by a communication error. Do the following:
  1. Remove any other devices attached to the USB/LPT port.
  2. Uninstall the Lexmark printer.
  3. Connect the printer directly to the PC and ensure that power is being supplied to the printer.
  4. Reinstall the printer.
Thank you....

Ink cartridge

Not quite sure what you mean but if it is stuck under the housing then that would give the error. Could it be that the cartridge wasn't installed straight and this has caused it to become jammed?
