The brush roll motor is most likely bad (part #2036757). You will have to take it aprt and check it.

Pump or motor bearing. Possibly hair around the brush roll. You will have to have it serviced to fix these problems

I replaced both belts and still the brushes won't turn

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

You may need to clean your roller brush first and try to see if this would resolve the issue. If not, then most likely your roller brush needs to be replaced.

You may order replacement parts for your Bissell directly to us. This is our Bissell replacement parts: http://www.thinkcrucial.com/collections/vacuums/collection-filter-fits-vacuum-bissell

Why does it keep shutting off and the start button flashes red?

Hi Jim, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC28's on/switch and height selector pad are designed to flash in different combinations to alert you to any issues with the machine. If the on/off button is flashing red and no other lights are displayed, this suggests something is jamming the brush bar:

Dyson dc50 the roller head stops spinning after

Hi, it's Jim from Crucial Vacuum!

One of the main reasons most brush rollers begin to get jammed and eventually not turn would be due to a clog. Turn off the vacuum and flip it on its side. Is there any noticeable debris, such as hair or large carpet fibers? If you're looking to clean out your brush roll do the following. For the DC50 there should be a red button below the vacuum and just above the brush roll. Push this red button, this will allow the brush roller to be removed. On the brush roller itself you'll notice two more similar looking red switches. Flip these up allowing you to remove the top of the roller and gain access for cleaning. Clear out any debris and try rotating the brush roll once around to see what else may fall loose. Take note of how the bristles look too. Are they worn down and loose? If so it may be time to change your roller.

Another item to check would be your vacuums belt. If this is loose as well it can affect your vacuums brush roll. Both are simple and easy fixes and can be done in just a few minutes.

How come my brushes won't turn

Hi, it's Cindy from Crucial Vacuum,

Your Bissell 9200 Proheat 2x vacuum's brushroll is connected to the motor by two different sized geared belts. Over time, the belt's gears wear down and stretch out losing the grooves and tension that turn the roller. Another cause could be there is debris stuck on the roller and/or bearings. To gain access to your belts and check the source of the problem, please refer to page 15 of your manual, a direct photo is attached.

Brush will not rotate and the belt is on,is there a motor just for the the brush?

No there is not, if the main motor is turning then the problem is that the brush is jammed with debris. You need to remove the brush and clean out the debris or replace the brush assembly.
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply.

My vacuum brush wont rolling when I use it, so I think when I use it, it seems it doesnt work at all, what can I do to fix this machine, so I dont have to buy the new one? Thanks a lot for the answer..!

the belt that drives the brush may have came off and twisted jamming brush,or could be jammed with a string off carpet edge, you will have to remove cover from bottom of unit and clean debris or replace belt. good luck

The cleaning brush turns only sporadically. It will turn when we first press the button but then stops and starts when we move the vacuum around.

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.

you need a new belt, and or you have string or something jamming the brush
