Problem with xerox Doc Centre 470ST

I have a problem with this copier. When the machine is turned on, it fails to complete self check and gives the error 'COPIER NOT AVAILABLE. MAY NEED SERVICING.' i have replaced the xerographic module and the waste collector and still no improvement. i will appreciate any help on how to carry out the service. Thank you.

Most likely the donor roll in the developer housing is bad.
That machine has a long setup sequence, and when the roll in the developer is bad, it will not set up properly.
From what you are saying, that sounds like hhe problem.

Uwasbisi... It is not un-common for the Xerographic modules for these models to be defective right out of the box. I myself experience about a 50% DOA rate. You may want to try another one.

Before you do that though, try this...

Remove the xero-module and the toner cartridge. Look into the now empty compartment area's (you may need a flashlight), and directly above and center to the magnetic developer roll/housing (under where the toner cart was, and directly left of where the xero-mod was), there is a photo-sensor mounted to the toner/developer housing that faces the (now removed) xero-module. It is rectangular in shape. About 3/4" tall and 4" long. Clean it off with a dry lint-free rag thoroughly. Do not remove toner/developer from the face of the magnetic roller that faces the xero-module. Only clean this sensor above it.

This is the sensor that "reads" the toner density produced on the module during set-up, and if it's dirty (and it DOES get dirty considering it's location), it can cause the type of problem you are experiencing.


All that being said, there are many other issues that may be the culprit as well (from a bad stapler safety gate on a sorter, to power supply board problems). Are you getting any service/error codes (you should be) in conjunction with the service message? You can look under the "error history" under "machine status" to the right of the touch screen.

6280 gives error 041 340 MCU VRAM error

Xerox workcentre 5745 network controller boots to 75% then fails and the reboot message comes up.

Try the following:
1. Power down the device
2. AFTER it is COMPLETELY powered off (can take up to 2 minutes), unplug the power cord from the wall.
3. Wait 5 minutes with the machine unplugged.
4. AFTER 5 FULL minutes have expired, plug the machine back in and turn it back on.

If this fails to restore functionality please call for service.

turn it off completely unplug it. open up all doors and trays....turn it on with everything open if you still get the error you are going to have to call in a tech if it starts up . start closing things till you get to when that errror comes up then repost and ill look up an answer for you. i work for xerox
