Mouse Cursor freezes after my computer makes an instrument sound

My computer will make an instrument sound and then the Logitech optical mouse cursor freezes. I have tried a new battery and it did not help. Then I will hear the same instrument sound and the mouse will work. What could be wrong? Really annoying and is happening more frequently. Please help.

Logitech m310 wireless mouse causes cursor to freeze while surfing internet, then computer reboots automatically. pc runs normally with microsoft wireless mouse though. any suggestions?

Make sure you have the latest drivers from the logitech website. Also make sure the batteries are fresh and there's no corrosion on the terminals.

Logitech wireless optical mouse won't move computer cursor

Sometimes on wireless mice the contacts get warped or bent, so when you move it or set it down the batteries are not making full contact on both ends and the mouse loses power.

You can try adjusting the contacts or using a conductive material to make the contact (like a staple or paperclip), but you're probably better off spending the $10 or $20 to get a new mouse.

When computer is idle for an hour, mouse cursor freezes up and will not move.

The mouse probably turns off to save battery. That would be my first guess.

Cursor jumps all over with a touch of the mouse why

trackballs and other ball mouses have an optical sensor inside the cup that holds the ball. dirt, lint and debris that falls into the optical sensor can make the cursor jump around - the sensor detects the debris as if it were a ball movement. Clean the inside of the cup and the jumping should stop.

Cleaning the cup -- first clean the three points that hold the ball up. They tend to grap whatever dirt or grease gets onto the ball from the user's hand. Clean the rectangular sensor window with a que-tip or by blowing into it. Get any stuck debris out of the corners. Finally, turn the mouse over, without the bal inside, and tap it on a hard surface. This can knock loose any remaining debris that can fall into the sensor window.

Mouse started a shakey cursor, how to fix?

If it's an optical mouse (without a ball), try using it on a smooth surface, such as a sheet of copier paper. If the cursor is jumping around even when the mouse is sitting still on your desk, junk it and get another. With optical mice sometimes selling for as little at $2, it isn't worth repairing them.

Mouse stopped working, but appears ok, batteries ok, can't determine problem

Hope this helps others. My mouse stopped controlling cursor but buttons worked. Problem was it would not work on a black table. Slip a piece of white paper under it and waaala! It works. I'm thinking optical mouse and dark surface might be an issue.

Mouse stops responding randomly

The issue may not necessarily be with the mouse. Are you able to use the keyboard once the mouse freezes? If you not even able to use the keyboard, there is some application installed on your computer or a virus due to which the mouse freezes. If, in case, the keyboard works even though the mouse is stuck, try changing the USB port or try a different mouse. Please revert back with any other observations. Good Luck
