The earphone jack is connected to the logic board, open up your ipod mini and see about replacing the logic board with one from ebay. Easy to do, just be careful.

The earphone jack connection produces sound in only one ear. Partially with drawing the jack produces sound in both ears. Clearly, the jack is not making a good connection once inside its 'port'.

Hi,
This is usually the result of faulty earphones. Try replacing the earphones you are using with the ipod and it should work normally.
Good Luck!

Hi i have a 1st gen 16gb ipod touch. When i insert the earphones into the socket i either get no sound, very poor quality sound, or ok quality sound which disapears when i move. i think this is because of...

Some devices such as yours have a 4 conductor jack, (used for earphones and microphone) and most earphones have a 3 conductor plug. They are not compatible. This would be my first guess. Second is earphones and earbuds get tossed around, put into pockets, etc. The cords can get damaged, and not be visible from the outside as the wires inside are very delicate. I would try a set that works in a different device.

Left side of earphone jack won't work. I have tried more than one headset.

Sounds like a bad headphone jack. Contact Apple at 1-800-APL-CARE.

My itouch earphone jack creates static in earphones.

sounds like the typical ipod and ipod touch common situation. It seems to be the dreaded headphone jack on the bottom or top of the device has gone belly up. You can either take it to your local apple store or look online and search your problem and see if anyone else has the same issues you have and see what can be done. You can send it to ipodsquad.com to get repairs or check your local apple store.

IPod- right earphone doesn't work

Yes, the headphone jack will need to be resoldered back in place. You can get it fixed at a computer repair shop or electronics shop. It shouldn't cost that much to get it repaired. Good luck to you:)
