My ScanMaker 1000XL won't scan.

Yellow and Green Lights in front blink together.
Heard a ticking sound coming from inside. When I opened it to see what it was, I saw a light on the power supply blinking with the lights on the front panel.
Illuminator is out.

When turning on the TV the green light on the front does not come on. You hear a click and then about ten seconds later you hear another click but the tv never comes on.

What light do you get, green blinking, red blinking, yellow steady light or yellow blinking light. The led lights will tell what is wrong with your tv.

But to answer your question here is what the difference between the green light and the red light are:
1. X-Band Signal Indicator—A green LED lights and blinks to
indicate the presence of an X-band radar signal. The blink rate
increases as the radar source gets closer. A distinct audio alert is
also heard.
2. K-Band Indicator— An amber (orange) LED lights and blinks to
indicate the presence of a K-band radar. The blink rate increases as
the radar source gets closer. A distinct audio alert is also heard.
3. Ka-SuperWideband Signal Indicator— A yellow LED lights and
blinks to indicate the presence of a Ka-SuperWideband radar
signal. The blink rate increases as the radar source gets closer. A
distinct audio alert is also heard.
4. Laser Signal Indicator— A red LED under L lights and blinks to
indicate the presence of a laser signal. A distinct audio alert is also
heard.
5. SWS Signal Indicator— When an early warning hazard or
informational signal is detected, the yellow SWS LED begins to
blink and the amber K-band LED lights. A distinct audio alert is
also heard.
6. Power-On Indicator— A green LED under P lights to indicate
power is being supplied to the unit and the unit is turned on.
7. LED Signal Strength Meter—Four LEDs give an accurate visual
indication of the strength of radar or laser signals.
8. City Mode Indicator—A green LED under C lights to indicate
that you selected City Mode.
9. Auto Mute Indicator— A red LED under M lights to indicate that
you selected the Auto Mute feature.

Troubleshooting

Hi Inday, Based on your post/description, there appears to be a mechanical problem with your scanner. It would seem that something is blocking the moving part of the scanner internally. Should you wish to give it a try, you have to open the scanner. Chances are you have to invert with the bottom up to access the screws. There might be 6-8 screws with plastic locking at the sides. Upon removal of the bottom plate, the interior of the scanner would be exposed. There should be practically nothing inside except for a movable bar that is held in place on one side by a guide rail and a plastic toothed belt on the other end. Near the topend would be an electronic board. Check that there is no blockage on the guide rail nor on the path of the roller or the toothed belt. Since this sound more of a mechanical problem (due to the "loud sound" that you heard), it should be visually detectable. Good luck and pls post back how things are or should you need further information. Kind regards from Batangas.
