One possibility is the temp sensor,if it does know it's a cold start ,it won't have an enriched fuel mixture to start.
Change it or put on a scanner and look at the temp sensor reading when cold.

Try to uninstall and reinstall the drivers/software.
Be sure that the device is not connected to the computer until the software prompts you to plug it in

common problem with people that do not let out the clutch at lights and put it in neutral. they sit at the light with the clutch pushed in. it wears out the clutch springs and burns the clutch.
If you have a voltage meter you could see where the problem lies. All TriStar parts including the motors, both the nozzle head motor and the actual vacuum motor are purchaseable online through www.totalvac.com
I have ordered parts through them and everything arrives no problem and they are priced nicely by the way.
It happened to me once before.
So I formatted it threw the program that came with the device and then I copied my music files once again while the program was working. After that everything worked just fine.
Hope it helps!!
