I have a Dell Latitude D630 and my trackball is at the intersection of the "G", "H", and "B"...
Everytime I type, especially when typing the "G", "H", or "B", and one of my fingers barely brushes the trackball, the cursor goes off into a new position, and I have to do a lot of deleting...Its taking me forever to type anything!
I have tried to reduce the speed and precision of the pointer, usineg the control panel option on the start menu and it does not help...
Is there any way to deactivate the trackball while I am typing, or using an external wireless mouse?
Thannks!
I have a Dell Inspiron 4100 and I have the same problem. IN the configuration screen for the mouse there is no possibility to disable the trackball... Anyone have a good idea on this, please help! Thank you in advance.

Easiest thing to do is to use a mouse. Just plug it in (ideally before you switch on), should automatically be recognised and away you go. I hate trackballs and the mousepads and when working on anyone elses laptop, always connect a mouse up.

Hi, to change the trackball or trackpad sensitivity of the BlackBerry smartphone, complete the following steps:
1) On the Home screen, go to Options > Screen/Keyboard.
2) In the Trackball or Trackpad section, click Horizontal Sensitivity or Vertical Sensitivity to change the sensitivity level.
3) Press the Menu key and select Save. The new sensitivity levels are saved. A higher sensitivity number indicates a higher sensitivity level for the trackball or trackpad. The trackball user interface found on certain BlackBerry smartphones is similar to the trackball used in a mouse in conjunction with a desktop computer. In the event debris comes in contact with the trackball and affects the usability of the BlackBerry smartphone, rapidly roll the trackball up, down, left, or right to potentially correct the problem. If rapidly rolling the trackball does not correct the problem, please contact your wireless service provider for support options. Try to re-install the BlackBerry Device Software using the application loader tool, before you re-install the software please back up the BlackBerry smartphone data.I hope this information will be helpful to you
Trackball doesn't work if you have not selected the sensitivity.
To select the sensitivity, kindly follow the steps:
1. Select menu.
2. Select option.
3. Select screen/key board.
4. Scroll down to find horizontal and verticle
5. Select horizontal-100 and verticle-100.
Trackball sensitivity too high, perhaps? When I have the trackball sensitivity up too high, I have problems clicking on links with the trackball:
Goto options, screen/keyboard (towards the end of the options menu) and lower trackball vertical sensitivity a bit (try to lower it 20 ticks first, then go from there).
Go to control panel. Select mouse. In the window that opens, select the dell touchpad tab. Click where it tells you.
Then, on the bottom left of the next window that opens, select "pointing stick settings." Uncheck the "tap to click" and the TouchCheck "Enable" boxes.
That seemed to work for me. you can also disable the touchcheck on the touchpad.
