I have the GPS receiver connected to my Kenwood DDX7015 monitor. When I start it up, it reads the cd but when it displays on the monitor I cannot touch the screen to chose the options. What can the problem be?

If you press the on/off power switch and can toggle the screen, then he unit isn't locked up at all. The touchscreen is either intermittent or has failed and needs to be replaced. More info can be found here:
i am pretty sure i had a kenwood that did that before. I think you have to hold 1 and 6 for 15 seconds or so . look for a default code from the factory in your book. thats the extent of my knowledge on that
I just had this problem. You will need a pc with a dvd/cd writer. Go to www.garmin.com/kenwwood, and download to new firmware/software. Just follow the instructions and upgrade your 5120's software to version 2.60. All you have to do is unzip the file on your pc, copy it to your cd using your burner software, then load it into your kenwood's dvd/cd drive. Your maps should come back.
There is a bulletin on the mech which requires 2 springs to be replaced. When you install disc the cd pushes on two sliders that push on switches to detect the position of the sliders the springs pull sliders back to original position. Sometimes the slider may stick due to not enough spring tension and possible restriction due to dust dirt etc. This would be a possible problem for your symptom . [email protected]
