Please Help!

Right, this has been troubling me for some time on a faulty 500gb drive. I have just managed to remove the casing of the disk using a small slot-headed screwdriver.
There are no hidden screws, rather 6 lugs on the plastic casing that clip into the metal disk caddy. They are only about 1mm in depth. They are 5mm into the plastic casing 5mm long and are located at 4cm-4.5cm and 12.5-13 cm along the sides, going from the connector end of the disk casing. There are two lugs at the blank end of the casing at 2.5-3cm in from each side. There are no lugs on the connector end. There's nothing there to damage so you don't need to be too careful.
Here's the instructions: -
1. Turn the power switch to off (so it is easier to remove the casing which comes off vertically).
2. Use the small slot-headed screwdriver (like an electricians one) to lever gently the casing away from the disk at the lug points. Work your way around - you will see the metal frame start to come out proud of the plastic casing. That's it.
Once out the disk is as easy to access as any other by the look of it..

I have a laCie 250GB external HDD (by F.A. Porsche) and it really just took a good flat head screwdriver and some pressure to pop open the casing. If yours is like mine then there probably are not any screws on the casing, it is held in with tabs. I pried it open on the side the product name is on, from the bottom of the case.

Hi, I am trying to open the casing to access the drive,I really need to get the data and cannot wait for 6 to 8 weeks for a replacement drive from Lacie, my intention was to open the drive, and put the HD into a new casing. There are no screws under the feet, there are no screw AT ALL!!!
Thanks
if your trying to open a external usb hard drive case then the screws are most likely hidden under the feet or labels.
are you trying to open the hard drive itself? you will most likely damage it with dust and your breath. Unless you have a clean room with airlock and dust filtering and you wear a white 'space' suite.
