Video Playback on a Everio GZ-MG57U

When I record in widescreen I am not able to view the video on my computer. The video does show up on the camera's LCD screen. All I get is the audio on the computer. If I record in 4:3 It plays back just fine. I am using Windows media player to view the video on the computer. What can I do to be able to view the video that I have already made in 16:9 mode?

Sounds like you just need to upgrade your codecs. I use media player classic or VLC media player so I've never had these "not" play. Also another thing you will run into is the widescreen not showing properly when it does work. You have to convert the video to proper divx format with Xillisoft video converter in order for it to appear in 16:9 in all players. Makes the files 1/10 of the size too with little quality loss. Make sure you get the newest divx and xvid codecs, or a media player codec pack (easily found in google).

Then there is an upgrade site from cyberlink just for JVC customers. Sorry though, looks like you might have to pay for the upgrade.

LCD panel needs replacing - this is the classic case of detached screen ribbon, which unfortunately is not repairable without silicon printing equipment which costs thousands. Also check playback on another device (ie streamed through your PC) to make sure the heads haven't become misaligned.

I need Download Software Lost the original disc.

You can just use windows explorer to transfer video and rename the mod to avi to view it. You can use Xillisoft video converter to make them into divx or whatever format you need. Camstasia software is good for editing, much better than any of the software that comes with the camera.

Free up hard drive space

It's probably just misreporting the capability. The camera uses 2 folders that are approximately 16 gigs (magically all hard drives lose a few gigs don't ask me why). But in FAT32 partitions, only 4 gigs can be used at the most at one time, so it might be guessing there are just 2 4 gig capacity folders.

Playback on PC has no sound

Are you playing the video back through the camcorders utility ? Sometimes by clicking on the file through windows explorer you will get the picture but no sound, this happens for the Sony camcorder but is fixed by running the playback through the motion picture browser application supplied with the camcorder.

Lost files with camcorder everio gz-hd7

From my experience with Hard Drive based Camcorders.. you're best bet is to treat them like a computer.. use an application like Data Rescue II to recover the files from the camcorder.. once the files are recovered, reformat the HD on teh camcorder and you should be abel to start recording new footage again.

Video management problem

sounds like you need to "recover" the hard drive.

Only other option you can try is to reset the camera.
