Monitor image is "posterized"...red,yello, blk and white only

17" Graphite Apple Sudio Display..my 5 year old was "clicking" on stuff for good 15 minutes. When I caught him about 50 windows were open so I proceeded to shut them all only to reveal that all icons and my desktop photo was now "posterized" (made up of only "red, yello, black and white..) For a second on restart the full images come up and then switch to this altered state. I ran hardware test and the monitor passed. I checked display settings and they appear to be normal. I'm lost.

Could you be more layperson friendly in the response? I'm not sure what I need to physically do to fix this. Open the tower and check the connections?

You have defective RGB circuit, or re solder all CRT Board maybe you have lost contact at the RGB CRT Board. RGB means red, green, blue. CRT means Cathode Ray Tube.

Rgb internal wires which ones can u use to convert it into red, white and yello at other end for tv

RGB is a term that means the guns in the crt or other display are only driven by amplifiers for that color. So you have to have seperate signals and inputs for red, green and blue. Those come from the source in that method. They are then fed into the monitor for which each of those colors has its own channel and amplifier. If you dont have something that is supplying the RGB singals then it is of no use. The colors that you listed as red white and yellow are for COMPOSITE video with AUDIO. The yellow is the whole video signal and the red and white are stereo sound signals. No attempts at making that work will correct this unless you buy a converter.

LG 700E CRT 17" monitor,

problem with the monitor Display cable. it is damaged.

Normally monitor will receive 3 colors red, green, Blue signals from CPU. If one cable i.e Red wire connection is missing in display cable which is connected to monitor, Red color image on monitor wil be replaced with other fade color.
So, need the replace the display cable or display connector!

Dell pv755 has no display, red light when computer is on. 7 yrs old, time for new monitor?

no necessary, the lcd monitors have a use life of aprox 5000hours or 2 to 5 years.... you can chance the capacitors because that´s the first thing that get old for the use, if your monitor have this 7 years without trouble maybe this could be the fail....

However, brand name manufacturers often build proprietary power supplies or make up their own color coding, so I wouldn't throw out a power supply that supplies 5V where you think it should supply 3.3V. It's more likely a proprietary design than a failure.

Rolling display image

You will need to take your monitor in for repair or buy a new one. I could get into the specifics about WHAT exactly causes this type of failure but bottom line is the same.
