Question about Hoover F7205900 SteamVac V2 Wet/Dry Vacuum

Replacing valve on water tank on hoover steamvac

I have water linking form the water and detergent tank on the Hoover Steamvac with Rinse. The model number on the unit is F7205810 but I have not been able to find on Hoover site. The closet I get is the F7205-910 which is similar to mine. I want to order the valve ($5.99) but would not know how to install it.

How do you remove the lower handle?


Check the clean water holding tank. I had this problem and found that was a crack near the outlet on the bottom of the tank. I replaced the tank and resolved the problem. I have taken this machine apart several times, if the tank is not the problem with yours, check the water tube.

Hi my hoover f7425-900 is not releasing water from the clean water tank but the detergent is being released can you help me? thanks


The most common reason for this problem is that the solenoid operated valve on the rinse cycle has failed, and is not opening. The solenoid assembly will probably require replacement.

I have a Hoover SteamVac that dispenses detergent when pulling backwards instead of rinse water.


This may be due to an electrical issue with the solenoids not shuuting off when suposed to. I would take it to a shop for repair.

My Hoover Steamvac Widepath will NOT pickup the water after dispensing. I checked the hose inside the cleaner, there was a cut in the hose so I put electrical tape and completely sealed the cut. Still...


Hi, empty the recovery tank of the Hoover SteamVac if the cleaner fails to pick up dirt. Once the tank is full, many Hoover models have an automatic shutoff that stops the cleaner. If the does not resolve the pickup issue, check the hose of the machine and remove any blockage.

Examine the water tank if water does not dispense from the SteamVac. It could be empty and need of a refill, or you may not have locked the dispenser firmly in place. The detergent tank should also be looked at and filled if empty.

This is a notorious problem with the Hoover V2 SteamVac's. In fact the tank design by Hoover on your SteamVac was so bad, that Hoover redesigned this tank almost immediately due to the numerous problems customers were having.

For your particular problem, you really have two options. The first option is putting a bandaid over the problem, but will still fix it. We sell the entire gasket assembly on the bottom of the detergent tank as a replacement part. Unfortunately it's sold together with the seal, spring, and valve together as an assembly;

You also may wish to fix the problem completely by replacing the entire clean water solution tank. Hoover has redesigned this tank, and the new one I don't see near the amount of problems that I do on the older style tanks. The plastic is much more sturdy, and less prone to having the gasket and valve issues that the old tanks do. It's important to point out that the new tank does not come with the handle. You'll need to remove the handle from your old tank if you buy a new tank assembly complete. Under the detergent side, there is a metering plate,(located on the machine) which can be removed. ensure that this is installed. have you verified whether the machine will dispense detergent only without any water in the water tank?

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Hoover F5807 SteamVac Wet/Dry Vacuum. Well, there are 2 tanks, one is the water solution tank that is on top and the other is the water recovery tank of which is on the bottom. You use the trigger assm to release the water and the Hoover SteamVac works the best on the pull back. You can spry the water going forward but pull it back very slowly and let the brushes do the scrubbing for you and the dirty water pickup. There is a ball in the dirty water pup tank that will rise to the top and stop the water from coming in, @ that point you need to empty and rinse out the recovery tank and re-install. If you run out of solution the top tank cap or cover is the measuring cup to determine the amount of solution – usually it is one cap full and extremely hot water, there is a switch for the carpet and the upholstery, if the handle is in the released position then the brushes down below should be moving – just look in the brushes window and see if they are moving – if the handle is in the upright position then you can remove the attachment hose and then use the attachment and the revolving brushes will stop. I hope this will help you in working with the Hoover SteamVac. If not contact the Hoover Co and get an owner’s manual and give them the model # and serial #. I am having a problem with the bottle you fill with detergent ex: this bottle is separate from the main clean water tank. THE PROBLEM: The little plastic part that goes in the bottom of the bottle has an "O" ring ex: cone shaped with a spring.....it keeps falling out. Can you supply a part number for this component?
