My Samsung HLP-5063 DLP starting making a loud buzzing noise recently. ... I've only used it to watch TV for a half hour or so at a time, as I have a new LED LCD in my room. ... it could be both

Do you have three flashing lights on the front? You most likely have a problem with your lamp or color wheel. Those two component combined are pretty much the guts of your TV. If you are handy, you can replace those parts yourself. I have a 50" Samsung DLP and I've already replaced those to items myself. Otherwise, you can contact Samsung at 1-800-SAMSUNG and they can assist.

I bought my parts using Amazon, had them shipped to me, and took an afternoon to take about the back of the TV; documenting everything and taking photos of the progress, until it was done. There may be video tutorials on Youtube. There was for my model (HLS5086). Here is a great link to help you along. Good luck.

Yes, almost certainly a bad color wheel, see attached photo.

If you remove the lamp and look in the direction it faces you should be able to see the wheel, look for it to be missing pieces or shattered.

You Tube has detailed video instructions for replacement in most of the Samsung sets; I have replaced dozens of the wheels.

Double check your work and make sure everything is back like it was before you took it apart

colorwheel does that buzzing and their close to each other so.....unplug fan for a minute then listen again.

you need to index the color wheel after repalcing it so its spinning at the correct speed

Hope its under warranty! your DLP chip itself most likly is bad or If you are very lucky.. its only dust on the DLP chip,,

Time to take it to the repair man.
