If everything is running i.e. evaporator fan, condensor fan, and compressor then you have a sealed system problem. If the compressor is not running it may have a bad start device (relay and overload) or thermostat/control board (will have one or the other). I would try a new start device first if the compressor isn't running. If you put a new start device on the compressor and it doesn't start then the compressor is locked up and would be better to buy a new fridge. Hope this helps. p.s. make sure there is no frost build up on back panel in freezer.

If the compressor runs but doesn't cool then it is possible you are low on refrigerant. Also if you recently moved the unit by laying down to transport from one place to another, it may have developed an air lock in the lines and may cure itself by simply letting it sit over night unplugged

It is freezing inside, and it is not cooling properly

Welcome to FixYa,
Check the Following
Is your filter clean? Look and the evaporator in the inside unit. Is it frosted up? Do you have condensation water in the pan? Go to the outside unit and feel the air coming out of the fan. Is it warm? Now feel the 2 copper pipes coming out of the unit. Is the small one warm or hot? Is the larger one cool ? Is there moisture on it?
Air conditioner runs but doesn't cool at all
If the airflow is good and the air coming out is not cold, your home air conditioning problem may be a temporary problem - your coils may have frozen. Turn the unit off for an hour to let them thaw, then try again. If cold air is now present, freezing coils were the problem; if the problem recurs soon after turning on, you may need to replace the coils. Again, call a pro. If you have ceiling vents in upstairs rooms and the air flowing from them is consistently warm, you probably have leaky or poorly insulated ductwork in your attic. See my Attic ceiling insulation page for more information on insulating ductwork that runs through attics.
Another likely home air conditioning problem if you have good airflow but no cooling is that thebreaker to the outside unit is shut off, which, depending on the installation, can either cause the air conditioning system to not run at all, or to appear to be running but not provide any cooling. If you can hear the compressor fan running outside, the breaker is on, but if the outside unit is silent the outside breaker may be off. If switching it on does not solve the problem, look for the high pressure cut outon the condenser and try resetting that.

Upright freezer quit cooling, interior fan runs, compressor runs

The coils are most certainly there probably located under your unit. Clean them thoroughly. Look under and to the very top of that space.

Have you checked the freon level in this unit? If you are low or there is a leak it could be the problem. Hope this helps.

Jenn air french door refrigerator

Can you place the unit into Turbo Cool? once it reaches 34 degrees it will reset to 40.

This can happen if you've recently added a lot of food lately, such as for a party. The energy saving nature of the unit cannot cope with the influx of a lot of food food from the grocery store all at once.

If that doesn't do it, stick around and someone will be along to help you.

Kind regards,

Central air conditioner doesn't cool

A central air conditioner that runs but doesn't cool may just need to be cleaned. Plan to do this on a relatively warm day. First look for your owner's manual and, if you can find it, follow its instructions. If you can't find it, request one from the manufacturer (see Resources). To clean the filter, remove it from the furnace or air handler (it?s usually located inside or very near the air inlet side). Replace a disposable filter or clean a reusable filter according to the manufacturer?s directions. 1) Before you begin, check the thermostat to make sure it is set to "cool" rather than "heat." Then turn off the power to the unit; there is normally a shut-off or disconnect panel on the house wall next to the outdoor compressor. Otherwise, shut off the air conditioner's 240-volt circuit at the main electrical panel. 2) Rake leaves and debris away from the outdoor condenser. 3) Remove any protective grille or cover from the condenser's fins. 4) Use a soft brush to clean dirt and debris from the fins, then vacuum them with a brush attachment (be careful not to bend or damage them). If you accidentally bend fins, you can buy a comb made for straightening them at an appliance parts store. 5) Unscrew and lift the top grille off the unit, if possible. If the fan is attached to the grille, be careful not to pull any wires loose. 6) From inside the unit, hose out the fins (protect the wiring and motor with plastic). If your owner's manual calls for lubricating the motor, do that now--don't over-lubricate. 7) Then reassemble the unit. 8) To test it, turn the power on and set the thermostat to turn the unit on. Let it run for a few minutes, then feel the two pipes that connect to the condenser unit (slide any insulation back). One should feel warm, the other cool. Otherwise, call an air conditioning technician--the refrigerant may need to be recharged. NOTE: Avoid straining an air conditioner's compressor by waiting at least five minutes between turning it off at the thermostat and turning it back on.
