Changing hotkeys on microsoft ergonmic 4000 keyboard

I have lost my manual and have assigned a program to the calculator key that I no longer want to use. Does any one know how to change it now that it has something else assigned to it?

The manual says to go to "Start->Programs->Microsoft Keyboard->Microsoft Keyboard", and from there you can edit the key settings.

Ive lost my hotkeys on my keyboard

Sounds like your keyboard driver has either stopped working or has been removed. Keyboards will function as normal without specific drivers but hotkeys etc. wont work. Look at the manufactures web site for keyboard drivers, usually they are pretty good at providing the downloads. without them installed correctly hotkeys will not work. Once installed run the software and check the keys assignments.

On-screen keyboard problem

I think you might have your Hotkeys on, try disabling them

Hotkeys will only work while the SmartNAV software is running. Keyboard keys assigned to Hotkeys will not perform their normal keyboard function while they are being used as Hotkeys. For example, if the CAPS LOCK keyboard key is assigned to Left Click, it will only perform Left Clicks while the SmartNAV software is running. It will resume performing the normal CAPS LOCK function when the SmartNAV software is closed, or if the Hotkey is re-assigned or disabled.

Hotkeys not working properly

Function keys are special keys used for assigning program shortcuts and specialty tasks to the keyboard. They are located at the top of most keyboards and labeled "F1" through "F12." Some keyboards may only feature 10 function keys, while others may have as many as 18. These keys often go unutilized by the average computer user, but they may have very important tasks for some users, which can lead to problems when the keys do not respond. Fixing nonresponsive or malfunctioning function keys is quite simple, and should only take a few minutes.

Connect your keyboard to your computer, and power it up. Open a program that uses the function keys such as Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel. Check your keyboard for an "F-Lock" or "Function Lock" key. This key is used to toggle function-key support; when it is toggled on, the function keys will not work. Press the "F-Lock" key and then try using a function key in the selected program. "F1" is a good key to test, because it is set to open a "Help" document in all Microsoft software. If the key does not work, press the "F-Lock" key a second time, and test the keys again. If the keys still do not work and you are running the Windows 7 operating system, you may need to install a "hotfix" from Microsoft to fix the key functionality. Navigate to the link entitled "Microsoft Support: Some Function Keys do not Work Correctly." (See Below.) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975741 Click on "View and request hotfix downloads" located beneath the title of the article to access the Microsoft Hotfix database. Agree to the terms and conditions, then download the hotfix. When the download is finished, run the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. You may need to restart your computer after the installation is complete. Your function keys should now work properly.

I reprogrammed my MESSENGER hot key for another purpose at one time. That purpose no longer exists and I can't remember how to get access to change it back Keyboard Model 1031

If you're trying to set a hotkey on a new keyboard just go to it's settings and change it's hotkey. Don't worry about the old one.

Someone is probably playing a prank on you. Disable the services one by one until you find the program that is assigning those programs hotkeys so programs can't run with hotkeys.
