The hose was crimped at the canister end. I removed it; cut the hose back and (like a dummy) didn't make note of how the 2 black and 2 gray wires should be re-connected. Can anyone tell me the orientation?
electrolux twin clean Hi I have an Electrolux twinclean which stops comptely when you disconnect the extension nozzle from the handle and sort of cuts out. If you leave it for about 2 hours you can turn it back on. It wont go back on in less than about 2-3 hours which seems strange if its a reset switch of somekind?Today I didn't even disconnect it it just cut out when I tried to drag it a little by the hose...maybe a short in the hose is causing it to trip a safty type switch in the unit? Is there any safety switch in the unit that does this? tnxelectrolux twin clean Hi I have an Electrolux twinclean which stops comptely when you disconnect the extension nozzle from the handle and sort of cuts out. Try a different hose to test the motor. Make sure it's a good one from a working vacuum. If it works, the problem is likely in the switch, wiring, but could be the hose itself. Other problems could the the triac or relay in the vacuum.
Best thing to do is to take it in to an Aerus dealer and let them troubleshoot it if a different hose doesn't work.
Note: Do NOT use a Renaissance hose.
You don't have to "remove" the handle from the hose to attach other attachments, just depress the tab at the end of the hose and pull the upper wand loose then use the "adapter" to use the dusting brush or simply snap the crevice tool in place to use. If the handle won't come loose from the upper wand, then the described "tab" needs replaced as it's locking up the parts. Hope that helps!
if it is making a humming sound but not turning you belt is broken, if it is not check the reset switch (little res button) if that doesnt work check the connections between the cord of the powerhead and the wand, the wand and the hose, and the hose and the vacuum
give the hose itself a good look over sometimes the wires up by the grip break in the casing
This is a problem that needs to be checked at an Aerus Electrolux store. They have the tech manuals to troubleshoot the specific problems with the Renny (Renaissance). There are three possible problems involving the electronics in either the hose handle or the canister.
When the problem was first noted, customers brought their vacuums in and the service managers simply replaced the hoses. That resulted in burning out the boards in either the new hose or the vacuum, increasing the cost of warranty repair/part replacement. Electrolux quickly sent out service updates letting the service personnel know to stop the practice immediately. I can't remember how long it took before we finally got the proper troubleshooting data, but yes, there were a lot of problems with many of the machines. Fortunately for the store I worked at, there weren't many.
The Renaissance and a few other models require a series of steps in troubleshooting, done in specific order, to diagnose the problem. The vacuum, hose, wands, and power nozzle need to be taken to an authorized Aerus Electrolux shop for this. The service manual is only available to the service techs, and franchise owner.
If these steps aren't followed, additional problems may result.
Things you can check include:
1. Afterfilter. This is located beneath the on-board tools. Open the access door to the tool holder by pressing latch at front of door. Squeeze clips at the front of the tray and lift to remove. If the filter is dirty, replace it. Turn vacuum on and see if it works.
2. Check for clogs in hose, wands, and power nozzle.
Disconnect hose, hold one end up, and drop a coin in. Lift end of hose so that the coin drops out. If it doesn't there's a clog that needs cleared. You may be able to do this by attaching the hose to the blower hole, placing the other end into intake and holding it there, and turning on the vacuum. If this doesn't work, it will need to be taken to the Aerus shop for clearing.
Visually check wands for a clog. A clog in the wands can be cleared with a broom stick or similar item.
Visually check the power nozzle from the bottom and the wand connection. If no clog is seen, try dropping a coin into the wand connection and seeing if it drops through. A clog here can be cleared using a wooden spoon handle or similar blunt stick.
1. Press latch and open the door that covers the tools.
2. Squeeze clips at front of tool tray, lift and remove.
3. Remove filter.
4 Replace filter.
5. Replace tool tray and close door..
Instructions can be found in the Renaissance manual, which you can download from the following site. Go to "older models", find Renaissance and click on it, then click "download". Instructions are on page 9. The Renaissance is basically the same model as the Guardian.
