New Frigidaire side by side running constantly and still warm
Was working fine until Friday when the temp in the freezer stopped being cold enough to keep ice cream hard (it melted). The vegetable in the freezer are thawed and going soggy. The meats are defrosted. The ice is shrinking but still there. The ice maker is not making ice anymore even though it is set to ON. In the fridge; milk went bad. The Unit is 3 months old and there is no clicking sound - it just runs constantly. Frost/ice built up on the inside of the freezer - we cleaned it out. The unit is set to 6 Freezer and 6 Refridgerator. It was set to 2/2 since we moved here and it worked fine.

the thermostat isn't cycling because it's to cold in the garrage, the machine isn't calling for cold air because the garrage is so cold so the fridge isn't gonna run until the temperature starts to get warm and then the fridge will start again to keep it cold.put some heat in the garrage and it will run fine
He is correct. The temp in the refrig controls how often and for how long the refrig runs. Lets say the temp in your garage is 34 degrees, and you have your refrig set to 36 degrees: The refrig will never run, the fresh foods section will cool to 34, and the freezer will warm to 34. Even if the temp is 45 in the garage and you set the fresh foods to be 33, the refrig will not need to run long enough and often enough to keep the freezer temp cold enough. You will most likely need to have the ambient room temp at least 55 degrees to get satisfactory refrigerator performance. Insulating the refrig will not help. (by the way, outdoor beverage vending machines use an internal heater in cold weather to prevent liquid beverages inside from freezing,..... so using that info, you could put a low wattage heater in your refrig to make your refrig run enough to make the freezer section work. The %&#* with that, just move it into the house!)
depending on the temp it could
if the ambient temp get below 32
you freezer wont come on and actually begin to get warm (insulation factor)
but the refer will seem cold because of the low ambiant temp is the temp inside
we go in the refer alot more than the freezer
YOU MOST LIKELY HAVE A FREON LEAK AND RUNNING THE FREEZER WITHOUT FREON IN IT WILL KILL THE COMPRESSOR UNLESS YOU UNPLUG IT AND GET IT FIXED,THE COILS ON MOST FREEZERS ARE IN THE SIDE WALLS SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO CLEAN THEM LIKE ON YOUR FRIG.HOPE THIS HELPS-MIKE
