My freezer is ok, the refridge is not getting cold, the fridge gets cold from air blowing up from bottom freezer, how does the refrige dial work,? is there a door that opens/closes to slow the air and could it be stuck shut?

Sounds like a deftost problem. check the defrost limit switch and heating element, if good than replace the defrost timer or control.

SOURCE: fridge/freezer not getting cold

Hi,

As the weather is getting warmer for many people their freezer2_bing.gif and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...

Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

Model # MFF2557HES Top refrigator section stoped cooling freezer is working

You may have Ice buildup in the freezer. You freezer has a fan in the bak that sends the cool air to the fridge. Your fridge dial determines how muh cold air comes from the freezer. Try defrosting the freezer. You may have to pull the back panel off of the inside of the freezer to get the ice thawed. The ice build up is likely causing the air to not get to the fridge. Hope it works.

The bottom freezer works but the refrigerator will not get cold. model# MFF2557HES

Sounds like airflow fan needs to be replaced. Most fridges use a small fan that blows air from the freezer to the refridge. If that fan fails you get working freezer and non cool fridge.

Fridge is warm with no cold air.

Unless there are 2 thermostats, one for freezer and one for refrig, it's not the thermostat if the freezer is ok. Sounds like the small fan that blows the cold air from freezer into refrig is not operating.

Fridge compartment is not cold enough

inside the back of your freezer there are two holes that lead to your refrige there is also a fan with a small motor attached is the fan blowing the air fromthe freezer into the refridge section also are the two holes plugged up with ice these are some of the first things that you should be checking turning that switch basicly jut opens the damper door that goes fromthe freezer to the fridge so in allactuality if the door is pluged with ice or the air isnt being pushed through those holes your refridge wont get that cold also another thing to check would be the operation of that small damper door if you do have a fan runnning and do not have ice but if the door is always closed this could also cause this problem hope this helps

We had a power outage and top half will not work

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp ..
If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

Amana bottom freezer problem

It sounds like the condenser coil might be freezing up. This happened to me on my bottom freezer. The cooling part of your fridge is only in the back of the freezer compartment. The cold air from the freezer blows up through a vent in the back to the fridge and comes out at the top. If the coils do not defrost (which is what happened with mine) the air flow is blocked by the ice and can't get to the fridge compartment. Your freezer will still be cold but your fridge won't. If you pull the plug on it and time things right you can defrost the coils but this will only postpone the problem. Both will work for awhile again until the coils ice up again. You can also pull out the freezer drawere and try to defrost the coil with a blow dryer. You have to disconnect the icemaker and pull out the back panel behind the freezer to get to it though.

FREezer works fine, frig will not go less than 40 degrees and unit never cuts off

the problem is the freezer drain is plugged up. when the fridge goes into defrost, the water that is suppose to drain out has no where to go. so it refreezes . that ice has plugged up the blend air vents between the freezer & the fridge.
1st put your food in a cooler. Unplug the refridge.
(you may want to take pictures as you go.for the reassembling)
open up the freezer, remove the rear panel, & the bottom panel (if possible)
you will see the coils, underneith the coils you will see an metal tray. it will probly have ice on it.
with a blow dryer, heat the ice till you see the drain . now that drain has to be cleaned out.
that drain runs down to the bottom of refridge into a drain pan. with a wet vac , attach it to the drain tube, until you fell suction in the freezer. small amounts of hot water does help.
( it usually gets plugged up from bugs)

next , open the fridge ,on the ceiling of the fridge.there will be a plastic cover (most models) remove the cover carefully. usually there are 2 passiges from the freezer to the fridge. that is where the cold air drops into the fridge. there will probally be ice in these passages, which has to be removed.(be careful with the stirofoam)

once you have cleaned out all the ice ,reinstall all those pieces.
plug back in the refridge. It will tak a day for it to get cold again.( hint get 2 bags of ice to help speed up the cooling down process)

Freezer is cold and collecting frost, refrig isn't cooling.

you may have to remove the floor of the freezer. At times they fill with water and freeze. and you cannot see the layer of ice under there. This ice can form in the channel that allows the cold air into the fridge. another suggestion would be to put the fridge on the lowest setting then raise it up about 3-4 hours apart. hope this helps. Good luck.
