Usually this is a problem with old (parrallel port ) H.P Scanners. Shut down your PC, remoce power of the scanner, remove the data cable of the scanner both at PC as well as at scanner end. Reboot the PC. reconnect the data cable and then the power cable ofthe scanner. Try using it. If you have win98, it should work now. If Win XP_P, reboot your PC, it should work. If the problem persists, try re-installing the drivers.

Epson v500 Photo scanner was working but now gives a red light and whirring noise when opening the app installed on Mac - gives warning "cannot properly connect with scanner".

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try for your Epson V500 Photo scanner: Check the connections: Ensure that your scanner is properly connected to your computer and turned on. Check the cables and ports for any damage or loose connections. Restart your computer: Sometimes, restarting your computer can fix communication issues between your scanner and computer. Reinstall the scanner software: Try uninstalling and reinstalling the scanner software on your computer. You can download the latest software from the Epson website. Check for updates: Make sure that your scanner software and computer operating system are up to date. Try a different USB port: Plug the scanner into a different USB port on your computer and see if it makes a difference. Reset the scanner: Turn off the scanner and unplug it from the power source. Wait a few minutes and then plug it back in and turn it on. If these steps don't resolve the issue, it's possible that there may be a hardware problem with the scanner that needs to be repaired.

Getting error message -9927 on Image class D530. Won't scan

To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:
  1. Check Physical Connections: Ensure that all cables connecting the scanner to the computer are properly plugged in and secure. If the scanner is connected via USB, try using a different USB port on your computer.
  2. Restart the Scanner and Computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Turn off the scanner, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few seconds, and then plug it back in. Also, restart your computer to clear any potential glitches.
  3. Check Scanner Drivers: Verify that the scanner drivers are correctly installed on your computer. Outdated or corrupted drivers can lead to scanning problems. You can check the manufacturer's website for the latest drivers and follow their installation instructions.
  4. Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your ImageClass D530 scanner. Firmware updates can fix known issues and improve performance.
  5. Test with Different Software: Try scanning using a different scanning software. If you are using a dedicated scanning application, switch to the built-in Windows Fax and Scan (Windows) or Image Capture (macOS) to see if the issue is related to the software.
  6. Run Troubleshooting: Many operating systems have built-in troubleshooting utilities for scanning issues. Run the scanning troubleshooter on your computer to identify and potentially fix any problems.
  7. Reset Scanner Settings: If possible, reset the scanner settings to their default values. Refer to the scanner's user manual for instructions on how to do this.

Where can i download my Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W170 camera so i can install it to my computer so that it works

You need two things. A USB lead to connect to your camera and software installed on your computer to recognise your camera is connected to it via the USB lead. The software and USB lead should have come with the camera. The software will be on a CD or DVD. If it did not then you need to download the software from the Sony website and then install it on your computer. Depending on your computer, ensure you download the correct type. It will either be for a MAC IOS or Windows PC.

My packard bell laptop will not recognise my visioneer 4800 scanner, although it has done previously

If this is a USB connection, and you have checked that the drivers are installed, scanners are weird in that they require you to ensure it is plugged into the same USB port as it was installed on

USB nightmare, okay frustratingly even though everyone else uses one with ease ive plugged mine in i see its working, ive been advised to goto my computer in menu, to locate device from here, than there is...

You should first ensure that the"fly lead" is connected between the monitor and the computer otherwise you wont see anything at all.

Not all monitors have USB ports and the implementation is not always the best.

I would start by formatting a usb drive and ensure it is formatted to FAT or FAT 32 (most offer that in the drop down format menu) do the format on a known computer not monitor.

Once done plug that into the monitor to see if it shows.

If not come back and give any additional information to this post.

Again check you have the fly lead in first.

I try to scan a document and it says that I am not set up on pc. I use just the scan button and it still won't scan. Help please!!!

Verify cables connected properly to the back of the scanner
If the scanner is a parallel port scanner it is likely it has two available connections on the back of the scanner. Verify that the cable coming from the computer is connecting to the IN, Computer IN, computer, or similar connection.
Ensure that the scanner is getting power
If your scanner is not getting power it is recommended that you check the connections ensuring that they are connected properly to the back of the computer and from the scanner to the wall. If you have the scanner connected to a power strip and or surge protector it is temporarily recommended that you connect the scanner directly to the wall.
If the computer scanner is getting power, you should notice the inside light come on when the power is first received by the scanner.
After checking the connections you still get no power to the scanner, it is recommended you contact the manufacturer of the scanner.
Additional parallel port scanner troubleshooting
If you have another device connected in between the scanner and the computer, turn off the computer and temporally disconnect the devices connected to or from the scanner. If, after disconnecting these devices, the scanner works, it is likely that another device may have issues or may be unable to work with other parallel devices.
PC Windows users verify no TSRs are running in the background
Press CTRL + ALT + DEL and end task all currently running software except explorer and systray and attempt to scan again. If this resolves your issue it's a possibility that an application in the background such as a virus utility is preventing your scanner from scanning.
Verify the LPT port mode
PC users ensure that the LPT port mode within the computer BIOS is set to either EPP or bi-directional mode and/or try alternating between these two modes.
Update the drivers
Verify that the latest drivers are installed for the operating system being used on your computer. A listing of computer scanner manufacturers and links to the drivers pages can be found on our scanner drivers page.

SONY NW-A3000

Bad news - if you tried multiple pc's and it still failed, then your player is done.

Make sure you:
reset the player
upgraded the firmware
used the recovery tool
called Sony to be sure
last ditch effort:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware.

Buh-bye!
