Web cam does not work for skype

Try installing the WEBcam driver.
You can download WEBcam driver from the laptop manufacturer's WEB site.
I cannot give you the link to this WEB site because you did not provide details of the make and model of your laptop.

You probably need to re download the drivers for the webcam.
Go to Packard bell website and look for the model of your computer
and download the drivers.
Note: You don't need Norton it's a waste of money and not very protective.

I use Superantispyware and Avast both free and I'm an IT support specialist.

The fault is with theSkype configuration. Sometimes the WEBcam settings drop off and the WEBcam needto be selected again. Open Skype - Tools - Options - Video Settings and select your model WEB cam.

Try to uninstall any other video software that might conflict with the driver of your Microsoft LifeCam

Video call need a lot more bandwidth than normal ones. Unless you have a plan with guaranteed bandwidth yours will normally fluctuate so if it will fall below the minimum for the call then the call will be dropped.
The video cam has nothing to do with it, it's the video signal. You can drop the signal bandwidth by reducing the resolution and the refresh.

First, you are NOT the only one. Skype seems to be having issues. I teleconference with Skype 20 times a day. 1/2 the time the cameras work and 1/2 the time it doesn't, and it could be mine or the person I called that doesn't work.

Check and see if you have the latest version of Skype. If not, download and install.

Try your webcam software as if you are going to make a video. If the camera works, it's most likely Skype. If not, start troubleshooting the camera.

i have a same problem. my cam work well but in skype call it dose not work! in video configuration i see the cam but in video call write uknown error what can i do?

Look in device manager See if there is a memory conflict with another device

find an updated drivers for your web camera or install OS on ya laptop
try to use Anti-Virus too

try getting new drivers for the camera, see if it helps
