If you're NOT still under warrantee you should at least open the TV and check the board where the components are mounted and resoled any that look bad. If you are using a surge protector, try connecting the set directly to the wall outlet. In your case it could caused by a blown fuse, a leaky diodes or a bad solder joint at the horizontal drive transformer. All can be replaced at a local electronic or hardware store and they're easy to replace If this does not correct the problem, you may need to have your TV serviced. good luck!

SOURCE: Does the NEC plasmasync 42MP2

Hello

The input selection is as follows
You can select RGB source of component source for the 5BNC terminal. When selecting an RGB input the source is selected to RGB input [3], and when selecting a component input the source is switched to DVD or HD input [2].
To select the source with remote control follows. I'm sure that the remote control you have got with with the tv is RD-337 model, and answers.

RGB/PC can be selected using INPUT SELECT button on the monitor. In input switches as follows.
VIDEO-1 ==> VIDEO-2 ==> VIDEO-3==> DVD/HD==>RGB-1==>RGB-2==> RGB-3 and repeats the cycle again as you push the button.
You can also select the by pressing DVD/HD button on your remote contol [right down second button], as source.
DVD/HD can also be selected using the INPUT SELECT button on the monitor and on the remote control's DVD/HD button and the selection series will be same given as above.
OK.

SOURCE: Does NEC plasmasync 42MP2 support

Hi,

HDCP stand for High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection. It's a way to ensure protection from content piracy at the output on digital connection (that is why component work, as it's analog and not subject to this like some DVI cable or all HDMI and Dipslay Port cable).

The way it protect the data is a bit like for a securized internet connection, using encryption key.

To be able to circumvent this, you need a "HDCP Stripper".

It was invented by Intel and started to appear in 2003 on HDMI cable and (version 1.1 of HDCP) and a bit before that for DVI.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

No signal with NEC plasma PX-50XM4A

You were right when you called it a monitor, it is a monitor, which means no tuner. To be able to use it as a TV you will need cable box or satellite receiver or something that has a tuner in it.

NEC plasma sync 42mp2 vm2g

If your referring ot an outside antenna or cable, your set does not have a tuner, it is a monitor style. You will have to get a converter box and use the video input ( yellow) (red/wht-audio) on the tv, or the component input ( green, blue, red ) on the tv, provided, the box has the output for it. Most cable boxes have these and the antenna dtv converter boxes do not as far as I know but look into it.

Thin red line in middle of screen on nec 42 inch plasma monitor

I had the same problem -red, vertical bars along the right side of my Samsung 42" Plasma- and this is what fixed it: Removed unterminated cable.
I had hooked up an HD video camera to the set about two weeks ago. While I disconnected the camera I left the other end of the connector cable plugged into the T.V.. As I've since learned from friends who work in television, this is what's called an "unterminated cable" -meaning one end is unconnected. It can lead to problems with electrical interference and appears to have been the problem in this case; When I disconnected this cable from the T.V. the red bars went away.
So, check your cables. Make sure everything is properly connected and get rid of anything that might be picking up interference.
