TOMTOM 720 Just bought the 720 model and somehow, I
clicked on the wrong language. Even the book doesn't show how to change settings and I can't find a manual on the disc that came with it - it says there is not manual for this unit yet.
How do you re-set the language on this thing before I make a map to the garbage it?
I also selected the wrong language and can't find where to change it. Tip: The max point reward for answering a question is 15.
From the main menu screen, select "Change Preferences". Then look for (tap arrow at bottom) "Change Language" button. Tap the language (listed) and follow the instructions to confirm the language selection and choose a voice.
I do not have this particular model, but I am sure the fix is the same.
Go into the setup (press the screen when a map is showing)
Press the Blue Wrench (this is "change preferences")
Use the right arrow tro scroll to the screen with the flags icon. You can change your language there. As you can see, there is a lips icon which changes the voice; that is why you can have the voice and text in different languages.
Thank you for your fast response. I'm impressed. We do have that manual, but we cannot find the flag icon (from p.63). Page 49 suggests it might be in a hidden menu, but we can't get to that, either. The icons on our TT 720 do not seem to match those described in the manual. Regardless, we can't navigate the menu, because of the unknown language. We've clicked them all, however. ;(
okay turn on your tom tom then touch he screen so the navigation menu comes up click change preferences then push the arrow key until the screen comes up with change language then select the language
