When you get no disk error, that is usually because of a problem with the optical laser lens that is dirty, faulty or opaque, and will start operating on certain disks better than others.

In that case you will hear disk spinning, whirring and clicking, but the TOC (table of content track at start of CD/DVD will not be read, therefore the error.

Whe this problem is starting you may be able to read only CD, DVD or Blue ray, or for example only DVD-R and not +R , or only to read and not to write and so on. After more prolonged usage , often the unit goes losing the rest of functions, and ends up not reading anything at all.

If instead there is no noise, and disk does not spin at all , then there is a faulty motor, or the motor micro-switch is bad. This situation is far less common than the lens problem.

Try first using a CD/DVD or Blue ray lens cleaner disk to clean the lens. If that does not work you will need to disassemble the drive , and clean lens directly with q tips and isopropyl alcohol, or to replace the CD/DVD lens, or the whole drive unit.

My tv will not recognise any of the code in apex . We have tried the ones it says to use but it doesn't work

If you wish to get more details; check the sites linked here. It has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Common set-up codes to check with TVs and other devices are given, in the order of the "device's brand name" in alphabetical order. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. Surf the sites by type in the brand name to your set, in its search box.

Type in the brand name only of your device, in the search box [at the top right] of the display window and the Search will start at once as you type in, and will show you all the related posts. It will make surf easy.

Is my apex tv AT2702 high def??

According to apex its not and does not have a digital tuner the only way this can be high def would be 720P meaning 720 lines progressive scan.

Your aspec Ratio is 4:3 this indeed is a standard TV without a digital tuner so you will need a digital setop box or a digital tuner.

High DEF is not considered digital its conidered how many lines are displayed on the TV. For example 720p, 1080p .

Apex Ad 500 WM won't open - disk stuck in player

Even though the player uses a DVD ROM drive there is no hole.

It is possible there is a loading belt problem in the Drive.....

Here's a link on how to replace the entire drive with an everyday... PC DVD drive...

http://www.nerd-out.com/darrenk/loader_replacement/loader_replacement.htm

Here's a link to anything you would like to know know about hacking an APEX,,, not only making it region free but improving it's playback quality (Not all models have improvements,,, but any drive can be better than what is supplied)

I have replaced one drive on an AD-600 and upgraded the firmware for a second drive in an AD-600... AD-500 is a similar model.

My apexAD-500w dvd wont play dvds, but will play the cleaning cd

You need to blow on the lens inside. It may be dusty. Unless you have a can of airduster.

If the lens is good it will work. If it doesn't work then the motor inside is bad

My DvD player shows No Disk after slapping in disk

I had this same problem with my Apex AD-500W DVD Player. I decided since everyone said the player basically needed to be replaced it wouldn't hurt to go through the buttons on the remote just to try and figure it out......I DID!!!! I turned on my DVD Player, inserted a disc, turned on my tv and then hit the SYSTEM Button right below the power button until the screen said MULTI and the machine started working perfectly. There are 3 settings in that button, PAL which made my screen go crazy, NTSC ( i have no clue) and MULTI(this one made it work)! Hope it also works for all of you!!!

WHY WON'T MY DVD PLAYER WORK?

you can try this unplug the unit , you'll need alchohol, q-tips, screwdriver open it and look for all the flat cable connectors. be carefull and remove 1 side at the time ,and clean the contacts, put them back on , see if you can see the optic laser inside the mechanism it looks like a crystal eye, if you can reach it be gentle and clean the dust may it have. or buy at radio shack a cd cleaner. if after that your dvd don't work with dvds try a regular cd. if it plays music the laser its bad nothig else you can do. cheaper to buy a new one
