Contact me at Starrett and I can email you the instructions on how to change the vial only if you want. The other option is to purchase a new tube and plug assembly (the silver tube with the vial). That is much easier to do. After, you can always send the old one in for repair. Third option is to send out the tube and plug assembly to be repaired.
Most people will change the vial only the first time, after that they go with option 2 or 3.

Starrett D125 Digitape 1-Inch x 25 Feet Electronic Tape Measure. How to install the 3 volt battery in it please?

Ask the maker direct. It is nowhere to be found online. Sears is full of doom and gloom. No battery cover with a small screw hold it on?

Starrett 823C 4" to 24" Tubular Inside Micrometer. I need a manual please?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved from Office Equipment category.

There doesn't seem to be any manual online or on their website. They assume if you have micrometer, you know how to use it. Ask them if they have a manual.

Bubble gone dry on my Laser Tec LM013N. Sears PartsDirect doesn't list any Item# 00948251000 Mfr. Model# LM013N Any ideas where I can get a bubble cartridge to replace the dry one?

The ones I used were 9.5mm X 25mm Acrylic Tube Bubble Spirit Level Vial. Thats ~ 3/8" x 1" Cost a few dollars including shipping. Carefully peel back the warning stickers, take out the 4 screws, pry the broken one out, clean up the old epoxy, epoxy the new one in and put back together. The whole operation takes less than 6 minutes assuming that you use 5 min epoxy to reset the new bubbles.

How do I calibrate a Starrett model 449 depth micrometer?

Try the starrett web site. You can chat with them there about it. The adjustments are fair easy to do.

My model 449 starrett depth mic turns hard, how can I fix this?

Are you aware of the lock nut that keeps the barrel from turning? There is a knurled ring next to the base that rotates to lock and unlock the barrel with a clamping action. Check that this is not causing the problem. Turn to left to unclamp.

Hi. I just received a Starrett 98Z12 machinist

Sit level on near level surface. Observe bubble position. Turn level end for end. Does bubble sit at same position? If not adjust screw untill they match. Test, adjust and so on.

Checking level accuracy

You do not need to replace it. If it does not read the same when you reverse it, on one end there are a nut over and under the tube and plug assembly. Adjust those up or down until it reads the same.
