Follow this steps and fix it. God bless you
f the fan doesn't work at all, make sure power is on at the outlet, then test the power cord . Test the motor and replace it if it is faulty. Clean and test the speed-control switch and service it if it is faulty . If the fan works on only some speeds, clean and test the speed-control switch .
If an oscillating fan doesn't move from side to side, check the clutch knob, then the gear assembly. If the gear assembly is faulty, you can service it (see below).
If the fan blades turn slowly, check the blades for a loose hub and tighten if needed. If the fan shaft is noisy or dry, lubricate it.

Can this room fan be repaired?

Take it to a local appliance shop and they will diagnose and repair. The motors are standard items. The oscillation is powered by the fan motor.

Rattle

Usually it's the fan or fan motor, or the rotating motor making the noise. Usually you can pull it off or clean it...AND the bearings, which could be crudded up.

Lasko 4920 won't oscillate...

Buy a new fan or do without the oscillation untIl it breaks worse, thenndiscard or pay a lot to have a new part made. Lasko will nOt and doesn't stock the replacement Teflon partial gear that wears out. Planned obsolescence!!! Buy a Honeywell or more reputable fan with a better warranty Hint: they don't exist anymore!! Caveat Emptor!!!!! THERE ARE NO MORE BUSINESS ETHICS IN AMERICA!!!!!!

Oscillating table fan makes banging noise when rotating

mcdevito75 here, Sounds like that oscillating swtich is either a little loose or could use a drop or 2 of 3 in 1 oil. Try to twist offf the oscillating swatch button and see if you can tighten it or put a drop of oil on it.

Fan makes a whining noise as though it is struggling to turn

Check the bushings for alignment and lubrication. Dried accumulated dirt makes the rotor stuck and hard to turn. If this is the case, remove the oscillation gear assembly at the back of the motor. Lubricate the front and rear bushings while manually turning the fan to loosen it. Do it until the fan smoothly spins. You can use engine oil as lubricant or even cooking oil but don't let it flood the motor assembly.
If the fan smoothly spins when manually turned but still makes a whining noise when plugged and switched on, align the bushings.until desired result is obtained.
Note: These procedures are based on my actual experience and makes a perfect result. Extra effort is the only investment.
