I called Hitachi, they sent me out the newest upgrade, i installed it still every input channel is bright green. no picture, i have the menu screens and the sound works fine. It's been three months now and i still haven't been able to watch my tv. I'm hardly at home and Unfortunately the Hitachi call center is closed when i get home. So you guys are my only hope..... Please tell me someone else has had this problem and let me know how to fix it.

THe problem is in the set top box. Or common called the tuner box. IT looses the 5 volts to the main display and thus the monitor will go into a shut down state. THESE boxes are factory repair only and must be sent off to repair.
I had this problem when I connected to the hdmi input
I called and was told the set had to be readjusted for the hdmi input it was still under warrentee.so the sent a tech out to readjust the set and have never had this problem again........
Since you don't have any white lines with the red screen/picture I would say that the red bulb (CRT) is conducting too much. There is an adjustment control for that. The 'sceen' control is behind the speaker cover and service cover. Turn red screen control slightly to the left until you get a good black and white picture.
Unplug the TV from the wall and plug it back after 45-60s should fix the problem. However, it will come back from time to time so the same procedure will reset the video board. You'd want to upgrade the firmware on the ATSC tuner as well because old firmware was built before the final standard and when the TV goes digital in June 2009, it wreak havoc on all older HD TV. Go to hitachi website and download new FW for your TV. Copy the FW to an SD card and follow procedure from Hitachi to upgrade. It works wonder for my TV after the upgrade.
