this happened to mine - could be that it is getting too hot (mine is in a cabinet) - turning the machine off (by unplugging the plug, not putting on standby) and letting it cool down seems to work.

However, the dvd has now stopped working (not related to the above problem) - hence me looking

I also have a faulty unit with discs that hadn't yet been finalised. You can access the discs via your PC. I used a program called IsoBuster by Smart Projects. There is a free demo which you can download. Just google it.

As for the faulty power supply, just scrap the unit and DON'T buy JVC again. Eventually, they will have to listen to the economies of scale.........

SOURCE: JVC DR-MX1 loading error - how can I retrieve hard disk hdd conte

well, i sympathize with your problem- it may be a bit expensive, but there are 'data recovery' services available on-line. if the data on the hd is still intact, then they can either 'burn' it to dvds, or transfer it to an external, usb hd. then, if your pc has a dvd burner, you can archive the content to dvds! store them in hard case holders-make copies and store them in a safe place! fire-resistant safe, safe deposit box, with a trusted relative or friend, in case the originals become damaged. also, use the external to archive any future pictures, or videos- then back them up on dvds! would suggest 500GB-1TB usb 2.0 external,if your pc can support it! $85-150. cheap!
might send the external along with the 180MB to whatever service you decide to go with, that will save some $$, in the long run. (or it should- research what the recovery services offer!).
good luck!

While watching a recording of a program that is also on at the same time, the dvr jumps ahead to the LIUVE mode. How do we stop it from jumping ahead?

Check your recording to see what the duration of the recording is. If the whole event is not being recording, that could explain why it is going to live mode. While recording an event, you can watch the recording. Please send me an email with a little more information: what method you are using to record, TV 1 or TV 2, and if this is happening all the time or just began. Here is my email address: [email protected] Thanks.

Can you record a program and watch live TV at the same time?

If you have a dual receiver, you can record to TV 2 and watch any program on TV 1. If you have 2 recordings taking place at the same time, you can only watch what is being recorded.

With a dual receiver, you can place the receiver in single mode and watch a different program even if 2 recording are taking place. In single mode both TV 1 and TV 2 will be watching the same program.

A solo DVR you can record to tuner 2 and watch what you want on TV 1. With the VIP 622 receiver, you have the Record Plus option, you can have all recording go to TV 2. If 2 recordings take place, then TV 1 and TV 2 are used.

Olympus Voice Recorder says only 6 hours time when it's empty

Hello
The recorder should be formatted only by using the internal FORMAT function found in the Menu. Formatting using the computer may corrupt system files needed to run the recorder and may delete the Voice Guide Data and Audible system files, so computer formatting is not recommended. When the recorder is connected to a computer, individual files can be deleted using My Computer without negative effects.after you format the unit this is how needs t
be depends on your selection for Audio quality
STEREO XQ mode: 17 hours 30 minutes
STEREO HQ mode: 35 hours 10 minutes
HQ mode: 70 hours 20 minutes
SP mode: 138 hours 30 minutes
LP mode: 275 hours 20 minutes
if this don't solved your problem you can get one really cheap athttp://www.tvps.com/Products/Olympus-DS-50-1-GB-Digital-Portable-Voice-Recorder---Demo-DS50__OL-D-DS-50.aspx just like a back up

EVERYTHING YOU NEED IS IN MY LETTER BELOW.

1. On your remote, find the record mode button; it is near the bottom on the left side. This button sets
the recording speed for the DVR. Faster recording speeds provide higher quality recordings.
2. Look at the display on the front of the machine: it should say XP ( records 1 hour on the disc,)
SP ( 2 hours, ) LP ( 4 hours, ) or EP ( 6 hours. ) You can also set it to record 8 hours on a disc,
but the quality of the recording will be poor.
3 Press the record mode button until the screen displays the recording speed that you want.
4 Note: if the powers fails or the Machine is unplugged, the machine will automatically reset itself to
SP mode.

Recording from VHS to DVD

First, you will need to know if the program was recorded in XP mode, SP mode, LP mode, or EP mode. To find out how much room there is left, put the dvd in the tray and press the Disc Menu/List button on the JVC remote. This will display the title and how long it is - write that number down. It will also say either "XP,SP, LP, or EP" - write down that mode. In XP mode, a DVD will hold 1 hr and 20 mins worth of prgramming - MAXIMUM. SP mode = 2 hours. LP mode = 4 hours. EP = 6 hours. So, if your program is one hour, and you recorded in LP mode, you have 4 - 1 = 3 hours of space left for recording on that disc.

If you finalize a disc, you will no longer be able to add more programs to that disc, unless the disc is a + or - RW disc. Also note that finalization requires some disc space, so if you recorded a program that is exactly 1hr and 20 mins long, and you recorded it in XP mode, then the disc will probably not finalize correctly.

That being said, the finalization directions are on p. 23 of your manaul: Title --> Finalize --> => --> find finalize --> Enter --> OK --> Enter

Now it will play on other players.

I am recording fron VHS to DVD. When I am finished and push the stop button, How can I tell how much space is on the DVD to record something else and how do I finish the dik so it can't be recordered over

JVC DVD Recorder – Finalizing and disc space
First, you will need to know if the program was recorded in XP mode, SP mode, LP mode, or EP mode. To find out how much room there is left, put the dvd in the tray and press the Disc Menu/List button on the JVC remote. This will display the title and how long it is - write that number down. SCREEN SAYS "SAFE" ?DO IDO TO GET RID OF IT???????/

To remove "SAFE" from the front display, using the remote control, press and hold "INFO" for 5 seconds until it disappears. This was probably acitivated while you stopped a recording which can trigger it, of you may have activated "Safe" by pressing the INFO button several times. This is to prevent access of the recorder by locking all controls. This is for the DVD Recorder/VCR combo VR320 and the 1st generation DvD Recorder DVR-130.

Even though this was a product I regret purchasing, it isn't as bad a people make it out to be. It works best with DV cable recording from 1 Hour Mini-DV tape camcorders to 1 Hour XP Record DVD mode. It is probable one of the best. Only issue I have is when you try playing a finalized DVD-R disc in another DVD player, there is a chance it might not work because of the Highest quality 1 Hour record mode. Standard is 2 Hour SP. You will have to burn an exact copy using DVD copy software on your computer to DVD-R. This will fix the problem.

DVD copying

There are double layer DVD's that they make which usually have about 2x the memory. check to see if your DVD recorder supports these types of DVD's. You could also just divide your media on to two sides of a double sided DVD (each side has the mirror look and you can record onto both sides)(still the same disc) or you could record on to multiple DVD's (may be inconvenient but is still an option). Also, you could reduce the recording quality just a bit so that it is not noticable when you watch it but it still uses less space on the disk. I would tell you how to do these things but I have no experience with the individual model that you have.

DVD recorder fault

This is correct. I suspect you can also see "SP" lit up next to it. You should also see "XP" above it (dimmed) and "LP", "EP" below it (also dimmed). Standard Play (SP) fits 2 hours on a single layer disk. XP only records 1 hour but at a higher quality. LP gives you 4 hours and depending on the setting EP will give you 6 or 8 hours on the same disk. The manual will tell you how to select the quality setting
